My sleep is so erratic that the time change doesn't really affect me — at least not this one when the clocks go back. I got to sleep ~11pm new time and woke up ~5:30. That's not bad for me.
Also, after going for almost a year of avoiding the bed in favour of the chair due to that rotator cuff nonsense, I now spend at least part of the night in bed and probably more time there than in the chair. That is progress. The shoulder is far from being all better, but I am happy that it is somewhat improved.
Anyway, it's a little after 10 as I write this. I have showered, shopped, picked up breakfast from McDonalds (more than $200 for groceries and breakfast), lollygagged on social media, and here I am, blogging about nothing.
McDonalds impresses me in some ways. The parking lot was full as was both parts of the order line, but I was driving home within 10 minutes.
I once met a woman who had done a study of the efficiency of fast food restaurants. It was part of a course that she had taken, and she found that McD's excelled. And whatever you think of the rest of the menu, they do eggs and hashbrowns for breakfast just fine. The coffee is pretty good too. Canadian McDs by the way, use real eggs; I don't know about down south.
We have emptied our little garage enough to park the car, but I didn't use it last night. That was a mistake, for we had what my dad called a hard frost — our first of the season — and I had to scrape the windows. We had it one day later in 2021 but we did have snow on this day in that same year. I know because I have put it on G-Calendar. I will now make an effort to use the garage every night until April and probably near the end of April.
And the circle it goes round and round. (We had this album back in the beginning of the 70s.)
Thank you for the song, it brought back good memories. I don't think I've ever had McD's breakfast, at least not that I remember. I was confused this morning when I saw the time in the kitchen, which did not matchup with the time on my phone. The grey cells were sluggish, I guess.
ReplyDeleteYou know Buffy? I wasn’t sure that Americans would. Nor most Canadians for that matter.
DeleteMcDonald's here in the States uses an "egg mixture" with preservatives. It's not like they crack a fresh egg to make your Egg McMuffin. It's not awesome.
ReplyDeleteI think there may be rules in Canada now that I think about it. At least I have a niggling in that direction.
DeleteI don't mind McD for breakfast stuff because I love eggs and it's hard to ruin them. (not impossible though) I'm not affected much by the time change except the annoyance of changing clocks--my car is beastly! However, the daughters with their little ones find time changes very painful.
ReplyDeleteOh … the car is a whole different thing. Someday SUe will figure it out while I am driving and she is in the passenger seat.
DeleteI had McDonalds when I was traveling years ago, and the eggs and fries were simply awful, but it might have been the location here in the US.
ReplyDeleteI guess my general impression about the whole corporation was off. Probably Canadian Macs operates under its own umbrella as it were.
DeleteI respect that, and I will never mention it again.
DeleteI've never been in a Mickey D, so I can't weigh in. Today feels very long somehow. It takes me a couple of days to adjust to the time change each time.
ReplyDeleteYou are so adept in the kitchen that you probably prefer your own cooking.
DeleteMcD's here in my town is not at all efficient. The last time we were at McDonald's, the staff stood admiring a friend's fresh tattoo, ignoring the line. When we did get waited on, they accidently mixed up orders, and our order went out the door with the aforementioned tattoo. I'd like to say that this is a oneoff, but it is not. We have learned to always check our order before we leave. Someone was outraged that a box of tampons was sitting next to the register, and took a picture for facebook.
ReplyDeleteI am almost shocked. I did like A&W, but ours seems to ave gone downhill.
DeleteI never liked McD's but my Dad would take my kids there, so I do the same thing with my grandkids, when I can (my community has no McD's).
ReplyDeleteP.S. Buffy Sainte-Marie was one of my favourite concerts, ever. However, that controversy was quite disappointing. Favourite concerts ever?
Your place must be small, indeed. I don’t know the Buffy controversy, and I don’t think I want to, so I’ll just stick my head back under the sand.
DeleteMy grandkids like Mickey D's so I occasionally take them there. I just have coffee. At my age fast food is a poor choice. Our local MD's does have decent coffee thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn’t go for any other meal, but they don’t go wrong with eggs.
DeleteSleep is tricky as we get older. Sigh. I am glad that you're spending more sleep time in your bed than your chair, that is surely more restful. I stayed up longer last night so I would sleep later this morning, a gamble to be sure, but thankfully it worked.
ReplyDeleteSleep is indeed tricky — always playing hide and seek with me and often winning.
DeleteI'm not a fan of changing time. It didn't bother me at one time. I still remember 24 sun up in the Arctic. Some people really got their time messed up.
ReplyDeleteI would imagine that the midnight sun is preferable to the noon moon. I would probably like to experience both, maybe for two days.
DeleteI've always favored little mom&pops for breakfast. You know, the ones who close after lunch. They actually break eggs.
ReplyDeleteI bet anyone who was a folk fan knows Buffy.
We have a restaurant like that. it is good but pricey. But we get more to eat, and we can sit and gab for a long time.
DeleteI love how you track your sleep. Something odd happened to me Saturday morning! My watch vibrated and I put my glasses on to read why. It said 'Val! Congratulations, you had a restful night's sleep!' A first since I got the smart watch in June. I laughed out loud!
ReplyDeleteWe rarely eat at any fast food place, but I sure do miss that convenience ... my grand daughter took me to a Chic fil a and that place is wildly efficient too. I worked in a restaurant for years and our bosses studied how to do fast efficient service. I learned a lot in those years.
We went to the very first McD's in Des Plaines IL. :)
Going out for breakfast isn't really a thing here, though I think i's beginning to catch on.
ReplyDeleteLove the expression 'hard frost'. My family always used it. And yes, we had it. It got my hanging plant in the screened porch that I had forgotten to bring inside. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYou got a lot done first thing.
ReplyDeleteMcDonald's breakfasts are fabulous! TG, not a breakfast eater, loves them. I would never say no to an Egg McMuffin. That said, it's probably been ten years since we had one, haha. The opportunity seldom if ever presents itself. I am impressed by all that you accomplished by 10 am, AC! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe have had breakfast from McDonald's so can't comment on the food, but VA neighbors would go often and always have a soda with their order, even for breakfast. Our grocery bill is often in the high range as well especially when we wait until produce, dairy and household items are all needed.
ReplyDeleteI tried to comment on your last two posts, and could not. Things are crazy everywhere. We've avoided the news today.
