Out of the closet: not me — the clothes.
The vest, tie and shirt have been biding their time in the cupboard for 16 years, since way back in 2008. I don't think they were the pants that I wore that day, but they've also been in the closet and perhaps for much longer. As for the shoes: they're new, but until I dug them out yesterday, they were also in the closet waiting for spring as they are to be next years new runners after the long and messy winter has been put to bed.
Meanwhile, Sue doesn't have to go digging to find clothes for yesterday's wedding as most of her outfit is pretty contemporary.
We had been to a wedding just across the street at town hall and took the photos before we headed home. It was a gay wedding, so those two men were certainly also out of the closet.
To bookend the clothes and the closet motif, I last wore these duds at my own daughter's gay, out-of-the-closet wedding in 2008.
I was wearing green converse sneakers, just like my daughter on that day, and Sue was wearing green accessories. My bowtie and runners were confiscated by Allyson a few years later, after she had worn out her own pair. Fortunately, there was a matching, conventional tie remaining after her depredation of my wardrobe.
Allyson's was a grand Gay-Jewish wedding that day, held on the grounds of Sue's sister's country property, the same cottage where Sue and I took many vacations. What a blast everyone had that day!
Of course I didn't take the photos because I had other duties, but my camera took some, and I collected all sorts of pictures from all sorts of cameras and put a photo album together for the girls.
So I share with you a few photos from that album that was both challenging and rewarding to put together. Note: there is a lot of white around some of the images because they are copies of the album page and not just the photos themselves.
My, that is quite the vest, I certainly could not pull that look off! Love that photo montage at the end, someone has some talent to create those!
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteWell, don't you look snazzy! But I don't think that you could have pulled off that look without a stylish charmer on your arm!!! I love the bride's dress.
ReplyDeleteGreat wedding photos. I love the last two especially! It looks like a fun wedding!
ReplyDeleteYou all know how to have fun! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThere was a hora in the reception or afterward I should say -- the two bides histed up on chairs and carried about in a wild party.
DeleteI needed a bit of levity this morning, and seeing you look so dapper makes it happen!
ReplyDeleteOh good. Have a good weekend and week.
DeleteWhat terrific pictures! Your daughter's wedding looks like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteLove that a gay wedding (or any wedding I guess) these days has so much fun with the attire! My friend (and the whole wedding party) wore dungarees and flip flops - not gay though. You sure do look very traditional until you get down to your toes. And Sue holds the fashion candle to everyone!
ReplyDeleteYesterday's wedding was pretty low key. As I sat in the audience, I saw a lot of men with dark jackets. I was quite pleased with myself. 😊
DeleteI LOVE this!! The two of you make quite the stylish couple. Allyson looks like her mom. The wedding looks like it was great fun.
ReplyDeleteThe Jewish flavour added a lot. You can see the breaking of the glass in the first image.
DeleteYou all look very cool!
ReplyDeleteYou still clean up quite nicely AC!
ReplyDeleteI can fool them when I really want to.
DeleteLovely memories. You and Sue look right smart for both of those weddings. I got in the mail yesterday a thank you card from my nephew and his husband. It was their wedding we attended in Chicago at the beginning of October. Our gift was to their future children fund - adoption or surrogacy is expense.
ReplyDeleteOh! I love that.
DeleteThe shoes are interesting and the dance shows the joy of the event.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't wear the green converse sneakers afterward because they weren't exactly foot friendly. The current shoes are good for both the feet and eyes. 😊
DeleteWonderful and joyous photos! Beautiful outfits too, including yours. It still fits too which I worry about with my own dressy clothes.
ReplyDeleteIt was just done up looser. 🙁🥸
DeleteLooks like a super joyous occasion- please include my best wishes to your daughter! Love the green ensemble- very tres' chic! Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThat is an attire looking like a young noble would wear. The wedding looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteYou two look great! What a lovely and fun wedding.
ReplyDeleteThe first grand-kid wedding we had was my eldest Grand-girl and her girlfriend. It was outside in early summer in a field that had a lovely old farmhouse for events. That was many years ago and only lasted months sadly. Eldest Grandgirl went on to adopt her younger sister's baby son when we lost that girl in a bicycle/car accident. He's three now and she has a lovely little house and they are thriving. There's still 11 other grands from 24 to 7 so who knows what they may do. :-)
Those wedding pics exude fun.
ReplyDeleteSo much joy in all those photos. Truly delightful!
ReplyDeleteYou and Sue look great at the today wedding, and I love seeing the pictures at the then wedding for your daughter. How wonderful that the clothes brought back such happy memories!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo memories.
ReplyDeleteThat’s the best reason yet to hang onto clothes…..you knew they’d come in handy one day. Looked like a good day was had by all.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky that they fit.
DeleteI love all of these. What joy! You should be proud that the clothes still fit too.
ReplyDeleteJoyful and fun! Good work fitting into them!
ReplyDeleteI love all these photos. You've captured the joy and love in all of them. You and Sue always look so dapper and stylish.
ReplyDeleteThey Do!
DeleteThese are nice photos. I feel like I've enjoyed the event. And you look very very presentable the two of you! I think the green sneakers are delightful. Aloha
ReplyDeleteWeddings should be fun and clearly this one was. I love the bride's dress and the fact that she and her wife were wearing matching shoes in different colours.
ReplyDeleteHandsome. Very. And, like the other commenters, I love the happy and fun wedding.
