Post-wedding on Saturday, Sha and Dani swept Sue off to Ottawa, for Danica had an appointment to shop for a prom dress. It's true that it is only November, and that the prom will likely take place in late May or early June, but these things take time. To wit: the dresses have to be made and that will take months. Then there will be alterations.
As the afternoon progressed, Sue kept sending me pictures of what Danica was trying on. There was a green dress that I quite liked and a peach one that was also very nice.
But how could AC argue with his favourite colour, red?
Sue was experimenting, and the kaleidoscope effect in the lower left, was generated from a photo of the dress. |
Dani got a sign to pose with, and her school was noted on the paperwork so that this dress will not be duplicated by anyone at her school.
The dress in the photos was not her size, and I was told that it was very open at the back. The final version should fit much better than this one.
Of course, Sue could not resist making composites, and these are two of them.
My wife's mother brought my daughter's prom dress back from the Philippines so there was no competition to have the only version of it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to do it.
DeleteWow, a unique prom dress - absolutely beautiful! I like the style, the color (I see fuchsia rather than red on my monitor) and the details. My youngest grand wore a tiny dress to her Jr. Prom...but I dare say she'll do the same for her Sr. Prom this year. Her dad called it a handkerchief dress, very very short, and not much top either. All her friends did the same with different colors.
ReplyDeleteDanica isn't petite, so she will be happy in a flouncier dress.
DeleteSo pretty! I love the color especially.
ReplyDeleteInteresting! The difference in doing Prom these days are so different than what we did 50 years ago. My sister and I chose to do a day of horseback riding with our boyfriends instead of going to a dance.
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are amazing and look like they are bridal dresses.
She's a beautiful girl! I saw the picture of her with Sue and Sha and thought, 'my gosh, that girl is TALL,' and then I noticed the box. I love the fuss. I never went to a prom, and my family could not have afforded such a thing anyway, but I love the fuss of that. Every year, it seems as if more preparation is required. I laughed at the idea of making certain that no girl duplicates dresses.
ReplyDeleteI also see fuchsia. That is a beautiful dress and looks good on her even when not fitting properly. I didn't go to prom, so no dress in my past. I would keep this one for all of my life.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very pretty dress and a gorgeous colour.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I now want a prom dress, too. Or maybe a ballet tutu.
ReplyDeleteWow! That's beautiful dress and a lovely color. Interesting how the shop keep tabs on who buys which dress so duplicates don't occur on prom night. That dress could also be used for spring or Christmas functions. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteAt the prices they charge . . .
DeleteA beauty all round!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful dress. Such early planning!
ReplyDeleteI thought the same, but choosing the dress is just the beginning of the process.
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. Seems more of a magenta though, than red…. but my eyes have seen some colors differently (at least according to my wife).
ReplyDeleteWhen is prom in the Canadian school system? And, is it grade specific (like Grade 13 only, perhaps) or do many different grades attend?

I may answer in a post.
DeleteNicely done. Sue. And it's evident you are enjoying the process as well. Good family man. So lovely to see life going on. Aloha to you all
ReplyDeleteBoth the person and the dress are pretty. You did her a justice capturing the gorgeous smile
ReplyDeleteAll Sue's doing. I was not invited. :)
DeleteWhat a beauty, young lady and the dress. She sure does favor her Momma!
ReplyDeleteShe's lovely, and I'm sure the dress will be perfect. I don't think the stores here keep track of who's wearing what, though. Or maybe they do, my daughter graduated from HS 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty upscale sort place, I guess. They needed an appointment, and Dani could only bring two people.
DeleteMy mom made me my prom dress. Such a pretty dress.
ReplyDeleteI love that dress and color; it looks more fuchsia than red. (or am I looking at the wrong dress?) It looks beautiful on Danica. What a fun day for everyone!
ReplyDeleteYou are looking at the right one.
DeleteA beautiful young woman and a lovely dress.
ReplyDeleteShe is simply lovely.
ReplyDeleteOy! I am not sure where my comments go!!!! Proms have certainly gotten a lot pricier since my school days. I never went to one. No money, even if I'd been invited.
ReplyDeleteAnd Danica is truly beautiful.
DeleteI was shocked by the price. OMG! But I think they all go now, date or not.
DeleteShe is so lovely. Not everyone can wear that color, but she looks stunning. I am glad she chose a real dress, not one of those dinky, tight ones. My great granddaughter, who is on the chunky side, always wears a skin tigh, short dress, and honestly they do nothing for her. Danica's dress is Hollywood glam!
ReplyDeleteDanica is not petite, but I think she wears this well.
DeleteCan you believe it? Prom. She looks terrific! I like the idea of showing dresses to one another.
ReplyDeleteA lovely dress and a beautiful girl!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, beautiful grand-daughter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a super choice. I love the shot of the three generations - you can see so clearly the pass-along of the beauty. And I like Sue's composite too. But ... but.. prom dress? Wasn't it only last week that you were putting her little self onto the school bus? Tme has fugited, alright.
ReplyDeleteDanica looks absolutely stunning in that dress! She's going to be the belle of the ball.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful girl, lovely dress!
