Sue is leaving me . . . for the week. This morning, I shall drive her halfway to Toronto, We will meet her sister, Heather, at Tweed and perform a hostage exchange (thanks Jenn). I will return home brokenhearted. ;)
Accordingly, Sue has been getting our place Christmasfied so that it's all done when she returns just in time for December.
There are touches all over the house, but this is the view from our chairs. YouTube runs constantly on the tv with its cracking fireplace. There is also a good chance that Alexa will be playing Christmas music in the background.
The carousel is out and many other decorations too.
Outside, Heather's Christmas wreath has been hung on the door, and the flowerpots by the garage have undergone their seasonal transformation.
It doesn't compare to what some people do, especially outside, but it seems comfy cozy to me.
Christmasfied indeed! Ours is Christmasless at the moment, but ask me again at the end of the week and I bet I have a different answer!
ReplyDeleteWe also put up holiday decos earlier than usual this year because of our road trip to NJ for Thanksgiving. Ours are not over the top as well, but then it's what makes you happy in your home and I am sure that the decos Sue put up will do just that, bigger is not necessarily better and some folks do go way over the top with the outside lighting and lawn decos.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking fabulous, AC! And so nice that Sue can return to such a pretty home. Think of it as you both being at camp! Only one schedule to manage!
ReplyDeleteWe have nary a decoration up and most likely won't for at least another couple weeks until we have returned.
ReplyDeleteIt's tastefully done and I would expect nothing else! It took me at least a minute to figure out I was looking at a TV!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous! As for Sue's sojourn, absence makes the heart grow fonder.
ReplyDeleteI've used the YouTube fireplace vids also on my TV, while guests were thrilled that I had Some Decorations..which I really didn't. And here (in the US) there's a tradition of putting up the tree after Thanksgiving (which is This week). Your home looks so cozy, indeed! Hope you enjoy being a bachelor for a while! Don't get into too much trouble!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, TG is early here but winter tends to come early too, so from mid-Nov on, it begins to look like Christmas.
DeleteLast year my neighbour gave me a nice big stainless steel tub from an old washer. We planted our rural mailbox post in it with hopes the snowplow driver would be able to actually SEE this big shiny object. We filled it with rocks and then stuffed twigs and moss around all that. I clipped balsam branches (that need to be trimmed beside the driveway on an annual basis anyway) and stuck them into the tub. Dollarama had a nice selection of "pics" to add the color for Christmas. We get so many nice comments about it. (In the spring I pull out the Christmas tat and add nice big floral things)
ReplyDeleteYou solved a problem and also created a decoration.
DeleteCozy and comfy, indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of your chairs has my curiosity piqued. With the television behind them and between them, how do you watch television? Turn your chairs around each time?
ReplyDeleteAnyways, your house looks quite cozy. I have done squat in terms of decorating. Zero.
We have other chairs. The picture is pretty well take from them.
DeleteI haven't even thought of Christmas decorations but have thought about filling up the Advent calendar. You place looks so festive!
ReplyDeleteThose are the perfect decorations! They are festive, beautiful and cozy. I will give myself another week or so to think about decorating. :)
ReplyDeleteClassic and, to my mind, classy. I do not understand people who crowd their whole lawn with ugly and collapsing blow-up Santas or a whole herd of lit up reindeer.
ReplyDeleteI trust you will go out for Fish And Chips while batching it?
I don't mind the inflatables so much when they're up, but that it not most of the time, sadly.
DeleteI don't really know where to do fish and chips here. We usually go into The Glen if that is what we want. However, there could be a burger in my future.
I really appreciate the pleasant, tidy, and selective decorating style you have. I have over the last few years leaned towards desiring a more "lean" decorating style compared to the "extensive" decorating we used to do. Smaller, cleaner, tidier seems far more enjoyable now.
ReplyDeleteI am PRESUMING you have the YouTube fireplace playing only when you do not want to watch television? Or is that a secondary television? Is it "easy" to get your smart TV to see/display YouTube? I think we have a "borderline" smart TV (old) and we struggle enough to just stream Amazon Prime, let alone trying other ways to stream.

Technology changes so quickly. Our Smart TV works well enough, but it is far from new.
DeleteBy the way.... since you like many British television shows... have you ever watched "Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year"? It is one of our very favorites and we slowly dole out only one episode a week...... we try to relish and savor each episode.
ReplyDeletePipeTobacco
No, that is a new one to me. We usually only see Acorn or Britbox tv. We dodn't even get PBS although we could.
DeletePerfect preparation you have done in a short time
ReplyDeleteHope Sue has a nice visit with her sister. Did she leave you meals to warm up for yourself?
ReplyDeleteNot too much. There is a meat pie that I can reheat, for a meal or two, but I'll be fine.
DeleteGood job Sue! I think it looks cozy, a perfect place to relax. I'm planning on putting up the decoration after Thanksgiving. We don't really do the outdoor ones anymore.
ReplyDeletePerfect! Just enough!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! That is gorgeous! It shows a lot of Christmas love that she's wrapped you in until she's back.
ReplyDeleteYou can enjoy a lovely week batching it with the cat!
ReplyDeleteIt's comfy cozy and I like what you've done.
ReplyDeleteOh, lovely! It looks so cozy, and I suspect you will enjoy your 'me time' while she's gone, and look forward to when she comes home. Those are the benefits to a long relationship. There is a lot of stability and comfort there.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so welcoming and cheerful. I love the carousel and the way the rides run counterclockwise.
ReplyDeleteI cannot claim the term. It was Joe who came up with it!!! For an old retired business man he has some fun in him.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Quite hygge, really. I do like those chairs, AC. And the carousel is quite something.
ReplyDeleteI know I am way late...but those blankets on the chairs caught my eye! They are so beautiful!
