Pity Me

Off we went to our senior exercise class last morning. On the weekend I had stripped the lining from my winter coat. It turned out to be premature as I had to scrape the car in the cold yesterday.

At class, I was a thorn amongst roses. Counting the instructor, there were 13 ladies and only 1 laddie. Moi.

I don't know what they all think of this. Frankly, I am not totally sure what I think of it either.

This is not a problem in our Thursday afternoon class although the ladies still outnumber us.

Whilst we were sweating inside, there was freezing rain outside. So, there followed more scraping of ice in continuing cold weather after getting heated up in class. It was not pleasant.

I told Sue that while ladies could complain of childbirth, it is us guys who have the real hard jobs such as scraping in the cold. I am too be pitied.

PS: The sun is shining on my monitor this morning. I always take this as a sign of spring ... even is there is snow on the ground.

Life is hard, sometimes. Scrape scrape in the cold, with sweat from a class where you were in minority. Sniff sniff. OK, you can get through this.

It's a tough world, and a cold one, too. But you're tough, you'll manage.

I feel your pain. It's 24 on my porch, and although the sky above is blue snowflakes are drifting in from somewhere. This is probably my last winter here, in Oct I plan on moving back to the Puget Sound area. I'm tired of 9 months of winter.

No pity parties should be allowed. Join the ladies. They have better values, conversations and are generally smarter etc. Man up and do it! In two different schoolQ, tired of hearing boring talk about golf and foot I sat at the ladies table in faculty room. My wife and I attend an all female exercise class. My role model was a 101 year old lady who could balance on one leg etc . was the best athlete in the class. My local book club is fifteen women and me. My national book club is mostly female "young adult" authors. Unofficially I'm their "diversity guy". Its all good....:) P.S. My wilderness adventures though were with men...:)

You are not alone in having more winter weather. We had furious snow flurries last night while we were enjoying hot dogs and hamburgers at a neighbor's place.

To mess around with a phrase from The Godfather III... "just when I thought I was out of winter, they pull me back in."

Some of us birth children and scrape ice. Finally this winter I installed a car starter, to warm my car and melt the ice.
