I see Icy

While our snow cover went down to almost nil in Saturday's rain, we were freshly covered come Sunday morning. (Mind you, where snow was piled from clearing and not just fallen, there was still plenty of snow.)

But it wasn't just snow overnight but freezing rain too. I noticed this on the neighbours flowering crab tree and stumbled out to take a few closeups.

Unless there is a freak storm later in the month, and this does happen from time to time, I think we are done with snow and cold. In the 14 day forecast, the high temperature of almost every day is above 0 and usually comfortably above. Some days will exceed 10°. Even most nighttime temperatures will remain above 0, and if they go below, it won't be by very much.

  1. This has been a wet cold winter here. Snow only really piled a bit in Dec. The rest was more worries about icy roads. We are back below freezing this morning, but last week felt truly like spring time. I'm ready! (But I use F for thermometers, so only know you're saying 0 is freezing, I think.)

  2. We'll be there in another month, maybe. It's minus 7 C. and I still have over a foot of snow on the front lawn.

  3. Above zero must feel triumphant. :)

  4. We had large flake snow this morning, the kind that doesn’t fall for long or stay around.

Hope you don’t have any more snow this spring! Enjoy the warmer temps.

  6. Lots of ice here, beautiful but tough on the trees.

  7. Love these photos. I remember marveling at the way sunlight would glisten on everything after an ice storm.

My granddaughter sent me a text from Chicago saying it feels like winter again.

  8. Yes Sunday morning was a bit of a surprise but after all, it's April now and we can look forward to some sunny days. Happy April!

  10. As dispiriting as all that snow and ice must be, it lends itself to some fie photography.

  11. Lovely macros, but i for one am done with winter weather and cold and have already pulled out the short sleeve shirts. Maybe believing snow is gone will make it so.
