Flooding

We are being flooded. You have seen this in a few of my recent posts, and there are all sorts of pics on FB. Most people are safe, but some have had to leave their homes, and one area by the lake has been hit quite hard.

There are many pics in our local FB groups, but few have been from near our neighbourhood, so I decided to remedy that.

The park just around the corner has a permanent runoff pond, but it has more than doubled its size. The flooded tree in to the left normally stands on a little dry peninsula.

Across the little footbridge, the path on which we normally tread has been obliterated.

Since I could access the Riverwalk Trail from the park. I decided to try from two other points. I didn't get very far.

There are sandbags by the seniors' residence although I think they are just an ounce or prevention as I don't think the water level will rise that much. Better to be safe, though.

Further along the path, the boardwalk, which is normally easily high and dry, is partly flooded.

As I write this on Thursday, I see that more heavy rain is in the forecast. Hopefully, most homes will remain well protected.

I was away last Fri. when we had around 5 inches in 24 hours...so I missed seeing our recent flooding. You've got some great photos of the waters taking back the low spots around you. The boardwalk one is excellent. Hope the sun comes back soon.

I hope the rain today doesn't raise the water levels too much. No danger of flooding at my house, but I think the little river running through the local park is pretty high. Get your big rubber boots out and keep them handy.

This is shocking. Do you get this sort of flooding very often?

Are the geese gone from beside the boardwalk?
Thanks for posting these. I was curious.

As I was reading this post, nthere’s a torrential rainstorm raging here. Thankfully, we are nit in any flood threat as we’re on the 5th floor, but I can see the Nashua River will be much higher by the weekend.

Yes, more rain today. We really need a couple of weeks of dry weather. These shots really drive that home.

So much of eastern Canada is under water. The 100 year flood is every year now.

Yikes! This seems so familiar -- we have had flooding in our area too -- though it's abated now.

Great record, AC. I took a lot in Lanark Village in '98 but it is just so discouraging there right now that I have not rerecorded. I feel so sorry for the people that have been hit twice and three times.
It is not doomsday yet, but I bet our grandkids will live in different ways.
