Of course, when the season was beginning, I still had other projects to keep me busy: typical autumn photos and then that early autumn snow that I posted about here.
But as other photo ops begin to diminish, I am more interested in taking hockey photos.
Mind you, these were at a tournament in the city, and I am not always keen to photograph in other arenas. However, Sue cajoled me into taking my camera anyway, and when I checked out the venue, I decided that I could be comfortable taking pictures there.
We are in blue.
Our goalie is probably our best player, and he almost has to be as the team is not all that strong this year. They are improving a lot, however. |
Trying to advance the puck with a backhand shot. |
They scored on this play and won the game 5-2. Yay team! |
Jonathan plays defense and is not often in the thick of the action, but I did get this shot. He's number 6, on the right.
My small people have been playing hockey for a couple of months too, and they love it. Oldest grandson (10) played in a tournament last weekend and his team won, so celebrations all round! Lots of happy dances in the locker room. The others haven't played any tournaments but are at the arenas (we have 2 here) on Saturdays and Sundays for games and practices and they love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the play-by-play. Great photos, AC.
ReplyDeleteYour first take of these is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteThe puck stops here!
ReplyDeleteHah! Right back at you.
Since I have been following your blog for a number of years, I am always amazed at how much your grandson has grown! From your first pics of him playing, up til now, quite a change.
ReplyDeleteWe have no hockey around here except, of course, the Ft. Wayne Komets. I try to take in a few games each year. Their venue is HUGE and involves a lot of walking, which with the ol' arthritis isn't too good for me.
We're, of course, more basketball oriented! Drat! I never could get interested in the game, and now with my advanced tech hearing device, the "squeak" of the rubber shoes on the hardwood just about does me in. Gripe, Gripe!! LOL!
Great shots, anyway, and nice that you go see him play!!
I remember taking photos of my son when he played soccer. An outdoor field is a much nicer venue.
ReplyDeleteGood shots! See? Great idea to bring your camera. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLove your grandson's stance. It looks as though he really "gets" the sport. Not all kids do.
Defense is cool. My 2 sons played defense for years. Now my grands are playing and I think it's pretty even. 2 forward and 1 or 2 defense. Doesn't matter as long as they're happy.
Have a great season!
He looks great.
