Danica has done a little skating before but not much and it has been awhile.
With a class event coming up (today), she wanted to get out there ahead of time and get a little instruction from her hockey-playing friend.
You will see that she isn't a natural, but she gives it a good try.
And just a few pre-skate photos for the record.
Good for her. I was unnatural at ice skating. I was a four wheel girl. On each foot!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be able to skate on those! I learned on speed skating skates and they are completely different.
ReplyDeleteI just bought my ED a new pair of 'leisure skates' for Christmas. If you want a quick funny (Danica take note), the ED did her PhD at Cambridge. Shortly after she got there she was tagged by the captain of the grad students, hockey team who asked her
ReplyDelete1.) that since she was Canadian she could skate, right? Answer yes. And 2).)'Can you skate backward?' Answer yes. 'You are on the team', said the captain.
The ED passed this marvelous opportunity.
She's better than me! One or two times on skates, falling on my butt, I decided that wasn't for me. Never learned how to do it.
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed! I never even learned to roller skate.
ReplyDeleteShe get's lots smoother as the afternoon moved on. Bravo to her.
ReplyDeleteI took my children to a free skate at our local arena every Wednesday. When the youngest was still in a stroller, I was allowed to push her on the ice while I was wearing skates. That was the only way I could skate with confidence. I no longer skate but our girls skate the canal in Ottawa. Good for Danica to persevere and improve her skills.
ReplyDeleteShe's such a sweetie!
