Naturally, we attended the assembly, and, naturally, I took some photos. As per usual, I was neither close nor in good position, but I didn't let that stop me.
When the four graduating classes moved into the auditorium, I was somewhat chafed as Danica sat on the floor in the farthest corner behind a row of seated students. But when it was time for song and introductions to her class, she moved into a different position, and I managed to squeeze off some shots.
She is such a joyful soul: happy to be there, happy to see us, smiling and waving.
They handled this assembly in a nice way. Each student was introduced by someone with a short description and each also introduced another. It moved along pretty quickly and it was nice that each child got her or his moment.
After the assembly there was visiting and hugs and love with dad.
We squeezed in a photo with me and Sue before we went off to Tims for a wee celebration.
Inside, Danica commandeered the camera.
Life is full of transitions, and this was another. These moments are poignant, for on one hand we miss the little girl and on the other we anticipate the growth that is to come.

Such beautiful moments with your precious sweetie! Many more to come!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so fun to watch her grow up, via your blog. Your pictures show that she is growing into a lovely young woman, the kind of girl that's a delight to know and to teach. You two are blessed...and so is she!
ReplyDeleteWow, the first of many graduations. I hope they all go as smooth as this one obviously did and if she is anything to go by, they should. I wish her luck (after her fantastic holiday of course) in her new school.
ReplyDeleteShe is certainly turning into a lovely young lady. These are exciting years for her and your pictures will be cherished as she grows older.
ReplyDeleteMy gosh another rite of passage with graduation and then the transition to a new school in the fall. And, as others have commented, Miss Danica is indeed growing up before our eyes into quite an accomplished young girl.
ReplyDeletehow cute is she! and a talented photographer, too.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, she will be in 4th grade! I feel so old!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable, you are all adorable.
Hugs!
She took the portraits? Well Done!!!

What a lovely family!
ReplyDeleteWe weren't invited to any school leaving ceremonies.
I taught 25 years, most in Ottawa. They always have a ceremony when going from gr. 6 to the middle school. Seems pretty silly, as they aren't really 'graduating' from anything! The gr. 8 girls, when going to high school, wore such skimpy outfits!
