They were $2.59 + 13% tax for a very small, 70g/2.5oz bag. Quite expensive, eh? But Hawkins Cheezies are Canadian through and through, so they were worth investigating, especially since the package says they are made with real cheddar and no preservatives.
Shauna said was familiar with them from her teenage camping parties that I don't want to know anything about, but I hadn't even heard of them until you-know-who decided that America should annex Canada. That put us into a bit of a snit up this way.
I thought, "Darn the expensive. I'm going to give them a try."
So, I did . . . try them.
My Oh My! What I have been missing‽
I owe it all to you-know-who.
Love those Cheezies! Yay Hawkins! Elbows up!
ReplyDeleteYou've known about them all along. Where have I been?
DeleteWe just found them in the Killaloe Fresh Mart. Snacked away yesterday! Very good.
ReplyDeleteYay us!
DeleteDon't you hate it when you try something really expensive and LIKE it! Those sound great!
ReplyDeleteI am fortunate and spend quite a few more dollars every year trying to buy "locally" made things that I consume. I've been doing it for much of my life. Although I understand for some it will cause financial pain, I look forward to the environmental impacts that this trade war will bring as we slow down our consumption of cheap foreign products that are clogging our landfills, oceans and streams.
ReplyDeleteBe careful with those snacks. The American version is what made tRump all orangie. I wear my nurse gloves to eat them. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHe has been called the Orange Cheeto.
DeleteWhat a fine discovery!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy these, and the orange fingers too!
ReplyDeletefinger lickin gud
DeleteMust remember to look for them when we visit Canada in June.
ReplyDeleteAt least one thing good came from you-know-who!
ReplyDeleteI am going to look for these!
ReplyDeleteI got them at IDA, but I have seen them at Giant Tiger.
DeleteMy treat-buying has taken a hard hit since prices skyrocketed, but in my moments of weakness it's Hawkins Cheezies all the way!
ReplyDeleteThey are new to me since the tariff nonsense.
DeleteAt least he's achieved something worthwhile . . .
ReplyDeleteSo you-know-who is good for something!
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the benefits You Know Who has accidentally given us.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like twisties sold in shops here
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I bet now I wish I had some. Oh...yeah, so ... you know who ... helped you find new food!
ReplyDeleteI'm stuck here and wishing I were somewhere else. I'm so ashamed that our country elected a ... You Know Who.
;)
I am also a fan of similar looking cheesy snacks, the ones that leave your fingers and mouth all orange, as the ones you showed here may do too. The brand to buy in the U.S. is Cheez Doodles, but i will take your word for it that Hawkins are good.
ReplyDeleteThese weren't as messy as some.
DeleteHawkins cheezies as far as I know are one of a kind
DeleteYou have discovered a different cheeto??? Can we replace our head cheeto?
ReplyDeleteMy bag of cheetos is better than you head cheeto. 😁
DeleteI have a weakness for crunchy things with cheese so I would eat the WHOLE bag. I'm not proud of that but I can't have anything like this in my house.
ReplyDeleteIt was a small bag and I managed to split it in to two days. So it was a partial win. 😊
DeleteI will have to hide the package.
DeleteNo more American purchases here!
ReplyDeleteI have made a note of the brand - love cheesies and have not found good ones lately. I hope you followed Carney's speech and question period about you-know-who? He did a really stellar job. The French was not translated and I found I could follow a lot of what he said in French. This does not speak well (right!) for his command of the language, as I am not a fluent listener, let alone speaker. But he tried. We have a good friend who is not only fluent but who used to translate and I am going to ask her at the first opportunity to rate him. She did not, just in passing, give Justin Trudeau very high marks.
ReplyDeleteCheezies are one of my faves.
