I imagine that because of Sue’s recent birthday, our little family has rallied around to take her out for coffee breaks, just as a little, extra treat.
Shauna drove her to a coffee shop in Almonte. Danica brought coffee here, and I got in on that one. What could Jonathan do?
Well, he can drive now except he doesn’t always have access to a vehicle, and even if he does, a licensed driver still has to be in the car with him.
In the end, Sue picked him up after school. JJ took the wheel, and they drove around to add to his driving experience in a different vehicle.
Eventually, they got to Tims and went through the drive thru, where he treated. Of course, Sue ordered coffee while JJ decided on a fruity drink, for neither of the kids drink coffee yet.
Off they went with their drinks to the spot where Sue and I usually go at the edge of the park by the boat launch.(Hopefully, we will soon be able to have coffee while sitting on a park bench on a nice day or even while strolling through the park. But we are at least a week away from that happy event and probably longer.)
Sue memorialized the event.
The next day, Sue's photo prompt had to do with keys, so she was able to use this photo, which I assume she took with the meme in mind.
I still don't drink coffee yet!
ReplyDeleteOur kids had to buy a second car! Another used EV.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to see JJ driving and having a typical boy hair style! Of my three sons, none drink coffee, though 2 used to but preferred keeping their stomachs happy…and the other drinks a Diet Coke most mornings!
ReplyDeleteI started coffee very late and often had a Diet Coke early in the day back then.
DeleteHe is growing up fast.
ReplyDeleteAlways exciting to have a new driver in the family, and good for her for taking him on a spin!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great excuse to spend time together and get treats!
ReplyDeleteI never drank coffee until graduate school. I only started then because it was free in my professor’s laboratory and he would bring donuts to our weekly lab meetings. I learned to appreciate the contrast of the stringent, bitter coffee with the sweetness of the donut.
ReplyDeleteI have loved coffee ever since. AND DONUTS (always loved them from childhood), but do not eat them now to attempt to maintain my BMI.

What a good-looking guy JJ is!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know he's picking up good driving habits from you folks! Normal happy life is so important now that we are facing this unimaginable foolishness from the US capital. I'm so sorry we are all going through these mental health challenges. Induced by you know who. I personally know people who are already having their lives turned upside down, scientists whose research has been canceled... People who work in worthy nonprofits who have had the carpet pulled out from under them. It is shameful and I hope it will wake up more people everyday and end up somewhere better than we started. Stand strong Canada most Americans are on your side
ReplyDeleteHe is so filled with energy and youth
ReplyDeleteThat birthday celebration goes on for a long time.
ReplyDeleteNice outing.
ReplyDeleteWow. How he has changed since your reminiscing about the covid years! And I see he does the tongue thing..
ReplyDeleteSuch cute curly hair, and the faint start of a moustache. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThese photos are priceless!
ReplyDeleteSuch a treat to have coffee with your grandson! And he both drove and paid! Sue is a lucky grannie!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet of your family to treat Sue so well! JJ looks ecstatic to be driving. I am just glad we are through with all that. I had to teach a couple grandchildren, as their Dad was deployed in Iraq at the time. Nerve-wracking.
ReplyDeleteThat is one good looking young man. And I envy Sue her contact with the grandkids. Just in passing; Village Treats in Lanark has opened a coffee and lunch spot in the store. Also hot chocolate. The coffee, I report, is excellent but the hot choc is really, really a treat. it is busy at lunch time as they also do takeout, but worth a visit. Once the weather gets nice, they have some tables outside.
