Two Near-Miracles

We confined our Monday walk to the local neighbourhood, which of course, takes us through the little park, the one with the pond. The pond was devoid of fowl except for a solitary duck, and, although we always take a look to see if there's a photo, there wasn't, and so we kept on walking to the boulders around which someone at sometime did some planting.

I know that there are crocus bulbs in there on the other side from the path, which in the photo is in the background beyond the boulder. Between the grass and the rocks there are plantings, and the tiny bits  of green that you see are croci.

I didn't expect to see any flowers yet, but there were four, and that is near-miracle #1, considering recent weather.

I know that I was being silly, but I had to do it, which of course, dirtied my clothes. The price we pay for our art.

Getting down was near-miracle ##2, and I suppose that you could say that getting back up might be near-miracle #3, but I am happy to call it just two near-miracles. By the way, that picture of the yellow crocus was blurry, but a one of the purple crocuses was better.

First, while Sue was shooting other purple croci, I decided that just the unflowered shoots held some interest for me. The wide angle phone lens makes the back boulders look like mountains.

Zooming in the the crocus shoots.

Once Sue, had finished with the purple croci, I shifted over and took my shot. With a little care plus a little post editing, I think the result from the phone is actually pretty good. And that might be considered another near-miracle, but I'll leave it at two because I don't want to be bothered changing the title.

Unfortunately, as I awake on this next morn, the poor wee things will be covered in snow, and there are many school bus cancellations or delays.

  1. Well done on getting down and up. You are a far more intrepid photographer than I!

  2. Oh but that is so awesome that you got down and back up again! Love the photos of the crocus flowers and the daffies coming up! It will look wonderful once the snow melts!

  3. I stand amazed that you could get down on the ground like that! I haven't been able to do that in a long time. Well, I can get down but getting up is the problem!
The photo of the yellow shoots is my favorite but the purple shot is great too.

  4. I live in a pretty rural part of the world where people are considered very friendly and helpful. Seeing an old man laying on the ground in a park would have elicited several offers to help him regain his feet. They would have of course seen the phone in his hands but just assumed he was fumbling around trying to call emergency services.

  5. We are having snow this evening, undoubtedly sent from your area. I like that you share but we’d appreciate it if you stopped now. Have a good day, you two!

  6. Excellent near-miracles, with the added bonus of some nice springtime photos! Sorry to hear more snow fell...but those little plants usually survive and just keep on growing...though maybe not the blooms.

  8. Above and beyond, AC, and I am impressed that you got up. Love the shot where the boulders turn into mountains. That one photo alone is worth the pain of dirty clothes and struggles. You rock. Um. Wait. THAT didn't work.

  9. I saw some crocuses this week too and was amazed.
We got a bit of snow last night and the roads were slippery this morning.

  12. I can't get that low on purpose. We have snow today too but mostly covering tree branches and grass.

  13. Congrats to you, AC, not only for getting down on the ground to take the crocus shots (the purple one was indeed lovely) but being able to get up. When I saw that the ground was devoid of snow and with plants sprouting, it seemed that Spring was near...until I read the end of the blog.

  15. Loved the photos and will add my voice to your rising up, good for you. I'd have to crawl over to a tree and even then...

  18. Nice flower images and perspective. But I especially like your red coat! If I were to ever see one available here, I would buy the same color. We typically only seem to have ugly dark blue, grey or black versions.
