The Third Time is not Necesarily a Charm

I have mostly caught up with my fellow bloggers, so I thought I would post about this morning with my coffee cup encounters.

But first ... I have some strange sort of health bug going on. I've had a cold and sore throat for about 10 days now. But it's a tight cold, not a loose one. I wake up stuffed at night but can't really blow it out. You know how one side of your nostrils usually clear when you're lying on your side? Well ... that was not happening, and you can't easily sleep when you can't breathe. Grrr.

Anyway, the nights were getting better, so we went out to a fiddle concert on Sunday afternoon. I came home exhausted and spent the rest of that day and much of the next wrapped up in my chair listening to podcasts. I have a tv in my room, but it seemed like too much trouble to watch it. I could close my eyes and listen to podcasts.

On Monday, I stayed away from the kids completely when they were here, for fear of infecting them, but I did mingle some with them yesterday. Today, both parents had to leave early, so we consented to go over there at 7 rather than have the kids come here at the usual 8. Having the parents get them out and over here for 7 might have been problematic — to say the least.

Sometimes Often I wake up at 5 - 6 just because that's the way I roll — unfortunately ... I wasn't always afflicted thusly — TG for that. Today, however, I had to pull myslef out of bed at closer to 6:30 — go figure. When I made my usual coffee with the Tassimo, I knocked the cup over.

After eventually dropping them off at school and stopping at Tim Hortons for a second cup on the way home, I put my coffee on the desk beside as I sat down to peruse the internet. Darned if I didn't knock this over too.

Wipe, wipe, wipe.

Sit down. Knock it over again.

WTF?

I can't even remember knocking my coffee over at any other time. At all. Now, three times in one morning?

As I said ... WTF?

I discovered that the third time is not necessarily a charm.

you are drowsy and sleep-deprived! probably shouldn't drive any more today! :)

Oo er - that's what lack of sleep can do to a lad.
So sorry to hear you've been bug ridden lately. Do get well soon. :-)

Illness and lack of sleep can affect coordination. If you are on any cold medicines, that can impact your coordination as well. And age is what has been the demon for my husband. His touch in the ends of his fingers is not as good as it used to be and he does drop stuff now and then!

I agree with TexWisGirl! Illness and lack of sleep can affect your coordination greatly. Take care!

Just caught up with your posts. Loved the scarf for your wife. Very pretty. And I love her posing with it.

I have always liked murals and I love the first one you posted (the singer). Reminded me somewhat of the Irish mural. Although I did only recognise one or two musicians in the huge group.

Some days are meant to stay in bed. At the most in an easy chair with everything close by. And knocking your coffee three times, certainly proved that! It was a stay-in-bed-day!

It's a vicious cycle: Attempt to wake up with caffeine, knock over caffeine, become more tired, make another attempt at caffeine, knock it over again b/c you're tired, etc. AC, just go back to bed.

I don't know why, but you type WTF and I giggle. You type it again and I giggle again...WTF? I hope you feel better soon. I read this in a book and have no idea if it works, but Supposedly, if you can have Sue or one of the grands knead your spine up and down a couple of times, it will clear up some energy channels and get your lymph flowing normally again, fighting off whatever infection you have. I know. It sounds crazy. But hey, maybe it will help.

Depth perception--it goes with age.
Sorry to have to tell you that.
At least it was coffee and not wine.

I prescribe tea with honey instead of coffee.. and another day or two of bed rest listening to podcasts. Then not overdoing it when you first begin to feel better.. which I hope is soon.

Looks like the advice given by others is to rest, rest, and mkre rest. I won't comment on those who talk about aging problems...best not to go there as I am right up there with you in that category, John. Hole you are feeling better soon.

A cold is not something to take seriously until you get one. Then life is hell.....

I know it sounds hokey and old fashioned but IT Works!
Chicken soup...nice and hot...Aspirin...no substitutes! A nice hot bath...not a shower. Humidifier and Vicks rubbed on your chest...
Plenty of liquids (nothing sweet).
Bedtime and quit running around town!
Ward off that flu before it takes hold!

I'm having a day like that today. I can sympathize with you. I don't feel really sick, just rather out of sorts. My joints hurt, and so does my stomach. Could this be another malady of old age? Hope you feel better soon.
