Every year, I try to take some crocus photos. It's always a bit of a mugs game as the weather tends to alternate between high winds and rain at this time of year. On Easter Sunday, however, it was sunny, and the winds let up just enough to try taking a few pictures. That was good because it has been either bleak or rainy ever since, and the little darlings may fade and wilt before any more opportunities arise.
One year as a surprise for my father my husband and I planted crocus bulbs all over my parents' front yard one fall day while my parents were out. It was a good feeling to see dad's surprise the following spring when the little beauties sprang up through the snow and mush. Of course thanks to the local squirrels, the crocus only lasted that first year but they were truly enjoyed while they lasted.
ReplyDeleteSquirrels love my buffet of crocus bulbs. Out of thirty two years ago only three survive. They are still lovely, though.
ReplyDeletespectacular!
ReplyDeleteAgree that the squirrels are hell on anything that is a bulb. I had a large bed of lilies a few years ago, plus tulips and daffodils. Now I have none, but the squirrels are very healthy. I found a tulip growing in the middle of my yard yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteYour pics are beautiful. We really should get together sometime so you can teach me how best to use this expensive camera I have. LOL! I am saving my $$ for another lens. Should I get "wide angle" or "zoom?" That is the BIG question.
Have a good rest of the week!
Brilliant colours. I have no idea what might bloom up here.. it's a waiting game .. hopefully full of surprises. But not yet. No sign of anything remotely green just yet.. but soon.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful blooms, rich in color. Love!
