I held her hand a few times; then just walked beside here as in the picture below. After that, she did fine on her own.
Of course, there were a few falls, but she didn't seem to mind.
There was quite a mound of snow beside the rink, just from clearing the parking lot. So a'climbin' they did go once they were done skating.
Portraits at the top, ready to slide down.
Wheee!
Meanwhile, the older, hockey boys were glad to have the wee ones off the ice, so they could let loose. They were pretty good while the kids -- ours and others -- were there, but I wonder if they would have been so nice if it hadn't been for adult supervision. But maybe it would have been fine.
i've never been on ice skates, but judging from my roller skating experience, i'd be no good.
ReplyDeletelove those rosy cheeks on your young uns. :)
Yes, John it's clear to see that you have a LOT more snow and ice than we have had, even with our 2 recent "storms." And, it's also evident that the grands were having a really GRAND time. Capped off with a visit to Tim's?
ReplyDeleteAhh! I remember those skating days. I was raised on a lake, which most winters froze solid. I used figure skates instead of the hockey skates. My Dad had hockey skates, but I never could "get going" in them. We had lots of skating and sledding parties at our house, and swimming and boating parties in the summer. I guess we would now be called, "party central." At least Mom and Dad knew where we were!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think those young men were as good at sharing as they seem to be at playing hockey.
ReplyDeletePollyanna lives!
