Pretty in Yellow

Cuppa and I went for a little stroll in the woods on the weekend, but the only blooms we saw was a little patch of these yellow flowers. We did see a lot of these leaves but only this small patch was in bloom.

I have looked online but haven't been able to id this flower. Mind you, I can't id many flowers. I do know trilliums, however, and expect to see them within the next few weeks.

I wish I could help you out but I'm drawing a blank too. I love the speckled leaves.

The leaves are odd looking. I am not familiar with this plant AC. But it is very pretty and it is very nice that you and Cuppa had some time to enjoy alone. Love Di ♥

Haha, I am amazed with people who are interested in Botany. I mean, to be able to name these flowers just by the sight of them? Cool. Simple blooms also makes you guys really happy.

Hmm, a bloom in the foreground and a dozen of dead leaves in the background!

It's nice to see the new life cycle of these flowers with the old dead leaves in the background. Good Picture! I hope you find out the name of these flowers. You will have to let us know if you find out what they are!

Trout lily or, alternatively, dog-toothed violet.

Thanks MG.

Now that I know that, apparently it is also known as Adder's Tongue.

BTW, I figured it would either be you or Ruth. Oh Ruth, where are you? :)

I'm here...after work on Friday :-)))
Trout lily is what I call them. Every day after work this week I have gone to the woods to admire these "fairy flowers".

Love the flowers but have no idea what they are. Lots of green sprouts here.. even the trees are starting to show leaves. Not much in the way of blooms yet.. but soon, very soon.

Dang. I'm too late to show off :-D I feel like the kid in the back of the room - stretching my hand into the air - flailing for the teacher's attention:
"I know! I know!"

They are pretty, eh?

I found some flower pictures, but no leaves, for Lilium Canadense that looked similar, also Lilium Columbianum, but both were orange, rather than yellow. Beautiful flowers whatever their name...

Try Erythonium Americanum!

Oops! Erythronium...
