A Warm Kind of Cold

Easter Morning and Cuppa is making muffins when she runs out of Canola Oil. She goes to the cupboard to get the reserve bottle (which we always keep on hand), and it isn't there. I have a clear memory of buying it not long, and she seems to have a memory of unpacking it, but it is not to be found. She attempts to dissuade me from going out on a cold morning because it's ten o'clock on Easter Sunday and no stores will be open. Right? Wrong! It turns out that Shopper's Drug Mart, just around the corner is open and doing a brisk business. Strange. I don't know if I agree with it on general principle, but it works for me today.

Darn, but it's cold out there: -12°C, 10°F and windy to boot. I recall some warm and verdant Easters in my life, but with more than six feet of snow on our front lawn, this is not one of them. But it's sunny enough, and the A-Team is in town, and we are all together for a few more days of family warmth.

Meanwhile though, I implore ye of the warmer climes to keep posting those wonderful photos of blossoms, flowers and birds.

I can see as how it would be hard to get into an Easter spirit in that kind of temp and abundant snow. ec

I remember an emergency run to Shoppers Drug Mart on New Year's Day to get cream before a big dinner. I seldom go near that store otherwise. It is very cold here and we received fresh show Sunday evening, but at least the sun shone.

I'm about to post pictures from our day at the zoo on Saturday when it was 70, and today's pictures when it's 30 and SNOWING. Covering up my flowers that finally started blooming over the weekend. But it should melt and I'll have some flower pictures for you tomorrow.

Dang! AC. 6 feet!?

It's weird, isn't it? Going to those blogs that show blossoms and green leaves?

I know you made your own sunshine with the A-team in town.

It has snowed here on and off for most of the Easter break! Just the odd flurry though, nothing like what you see, thank goodness!
Stay warm... sunnier climes ahead! (and a couple of muffins from Cuppa!)

I know what you mean about the shops! We have recently had the start of 7 day/extended hour trading, and I do feel it is unnecessary. However, I have to admit to being thankful for the longer opening hours also and have used them, sad to say. It makes me lazy in the planning department, knowing I can just nip out.... As for the sunshine, happy to send you several container loads as sun is plentiful for us!

Have you tried Grape Seed Oil? Ver light, very yummy.

I am afraid there won't be any lovely blossom pictures yet from my neck of the woods.. but warm post Easter wishes are certainly flying your way.

Six feet of snow in your front yard has me counting my blessings. :-)

I had to chuckle at your missing "extra" bottle of oil--I have those kinds of supplies too.
I trudge down to the basement to fetch. . .whatever, only to discover that I don't have the extra one I could have sworn I bought.

So ...? Did you find Canola oil at the drug store? A store that probably should have been closed on Easter Sunday? A store that is a drug store? It's an odd thing, isn't it? But I too, have been there on a Sunday. I sought food. And found it.

I have a little batch of snowdrops - they are always my first to bloom. The blooms are gone now, but they are my favorites for being first.

Tomorrow will be another snowy day in Wisconsin.

Hang in there, it's almost April!
