Some time ago I posted this photo.
It tends to be know as the Mississippi Hotel although in our time in this town, it was the Heritage Inn. However, work is being done, and it shall soon be know as the Grand Hotel (I think). I wrote quite a bit on a previous post, so I won't repeat it here.
I had sort of unofficially been asked to take photos of the restoration, but whenever I went by, there was nothing taking place on the outside. And how could you improve on that frontage anyway?
But when I chanced to go by recently, I did see that painting had been done on the side and back on the newer parts of the building.
They seem to be painting over the nice red brick. Although I liked it that way, I can see that it clashes with the original field stone and that the more beige colour will fit in better. At least this is what I have been told.
The lower floor to the right (above) where it is painted was really the most recently used section as a pub and restaurant, but it has been our of business for several years now. And that patio to the left (above) used to be very busy from late spring to early autumn, and maybe it shall thrive again. It seems to be under renovation at the moment (below).
Apparently, I will be able to take pictures inside once the work is completed, but it would have been nice to get some shots of the work being done.
It will be a great job by the look of it!
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to renovate a space. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteI love restorations. So much so, that it's going to be one of my new hobby's (researching, not doing, LOL) in retirement.
