A Day With the Kids

There was a time when almost my whole blog became about the kids. That came from back in the day when we babysat daily ... and also because they were so darn new and cute.

But life evolves, and this summer we were only scheduled for two weeks of duty. Last week was supposed to be one of those weeks, but Mom ended up taking them on a work trip which extended into some fun as well, including a visit to Niagara Falls.

So we only had them for one day and didn't plan a lot as they have been going hither, thither and yon this month.

We stayed in the house for the first half of the morning, during which time, Danica took it upon herself to explain the deeper aspects of the iPad, which old Buppa might not know about.

Trying to teach this old gut is so funny.

Danica had mentioned that she wanted to go shopping downtown, so that was the next item of business.

We checked out a few shops, bought nothing (Yay!) and found ourselves on a downtown dock that we didn't know existed. It was just off the parking lot and is for cottagers up on Mississippi Lake should they want to visit downtown Carleton Place.

After a lunch of bagels at Tims and a little rest, we headed to the good neighbours' pool.

Once AC decided to get in, he ended up in a watergun fight ...

... with JJ, who really got into it.

A good time was had by all.

We are off of official kid duty until the end of August, but Mom has them for a staycation this week, so I am sure that we will spend some time with them.

  1. When I see you with your sweeties, I imagine ours will be like them in the years to come. We have ours this evening. Time with grandchildren is so precious. How fortunate you can be involved in their lives. Such sweeties! You are well and truly blessed.

  3. The pic of you and Danica (second from last) made me smile out loud. Joy, utter joy in the freedom to simply be. I'm still grinning as I write this.

  5. Grands are such fine! I see mine all the time since they live on our land, but they are always a joy! I can tell by your smile that you had a heck of a good time with them!

  6. Great photos. I'd so love a pool.
We've only ever lived too far to help out with child care. You must be a wonderful foundation in their lives. The kids went to Waterloo to visit their stepgramma (with Alz. in LTC) and visit with a friend. My ex-husband died two years ago.
I lobbied to have the girls a week in July. I'm glad I did. They then took a train trip and spent a week with the other gramma in N.B. and this week their grampa comes with stepgramma to visit. My Jos told me she is rich with extended family, and it is true. I've found it interesting with me and stepgrampa,as my curent hubby never had kids but loves being a grampa!

  7. It's great to have a good neighbor with a pool...you get to have fun with the grands and none of the work and upkeep maintenance with owning a pool. And everyone certainly had a good time. Did you get your water shots in too?
