Having been reminded that I haven't posted lately, perhaps I can rectify that situation by sharing some weekend photos.
On Sunday, the Cupster and the Cloud took a wee car trip to Balderson. It's just one of those corner places about a half hour from home; it's not even a small village, but it does have a couple of nice shops.
So off we went.
It wasn't a great day for pictures, but I took some anyway.
|
Early in the trip we passed by a neat barn complex with nice red doors. |
|
In Balderson, we found this former and dilapidating shop. |
|
A closer view of part of the building. |
|
In colour: quite a crooked, old place. |
|
Balderson United Church: a unique structure that begged me to capture it. |
Great spot to meet fellow bloggers, too.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention the ice cream.
I wonder where the church tower went. Perhaps it got struck by lightning?
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely church---did you see inside?
ReplyDeleteOld buildings are so inviting, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI took a painting course once, and one assignment was to sketch a building. It came as a great surprise to me that lines which seemed to be parallel are, in fact, not.
Retraining the eye is not easy.
You went to Balderson and nary a word about cheese?
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting church. I didn't see a cross on it, maybe it had one on the other side? The other old building was really nice looking the way you did the photo A.C.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you have framed any of those photos for the house. They are beautiful! Love Di
Hey, AC,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this 'outing' very much! Love all the pictures you got.
Also, I loved seeing the birthday pictures in your last post! Those kiddies are growing up so fast! They are both cute as can be... but you know that already!! :)
Enjoy your day,
Junie
We really enjoy short getaway trips too. Your outing looked like a good one and cloudy weather is always best for photos cause no worries about the sun!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics. looks like you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures. Isn't it great the things you find close to you. The Balderson United Church is beautiful! Looks a lot like the one I attend, only not as large. We just replaced the steeple on ours two years ago.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great day!
There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile, had a crooked sixpence and he crossed a crooked stile...
ReplyDeleteThat crooked "dilapidating" building belongs in the nursery rhyme, I think!
Great pics!
Your Balderson black and white rendition is worth framing ... maybe you could forge a Wyeth name to it !!
ReplyDelete"Unique" is a very kind adjective to use to describe the architecture of that church! The tower has SUCH a surprised expression?! hehehe!
