Lionheart

I read this in the local paper yesterday, but I haven't seen much about it elsewhere. It's a human interest story well worth reading. The long and short of it is that a pride of lions rescued and stood watch over a young Ethiopian girl who was being beaten repeatedly. Once they chased the men off, the lions guarded her until human rescuers arrived on the scene. Read the story here.

On the personal front, I am still battling back spasms. I'm not at all sure why they have reappeared after leaving me in peace for many years now. I'm trying to rest up enough to make the long trip home within the next few days.

Requested postcards have all been mailed, except those to Karla and Rainy Pete. I bought 'em, misplaced 'em, and haven't been up to hunting high and low for 'em just lately. But I haven't forgotten — yet! Just give me time, eh?

  6. I caught the lion story. There is a follow up today with a hunter saying they were just driving off the big humans so they could eat her but got interupted by police...unless it's a real miracle. What's not a miracle about it? The cops showed up in time - sounds like a miracle to me!

  7. Interesting story. Particularly disturbing was the quote that said more than 70 percent of Ethiopian marriages are by abduction. Shocking.

  8. Sorry to hear about your back pain, I hope things are on the mend. That is quite a story about the lions protecting the abused young girl. Wow, God really sends miracles in wonderful ways. Thanks for sharing that amazing story. I was also shocked to read about 70% of all Ethiopian marriages happening by abduction. I've never heard of such a thing, that is horrifying. Can we assume this is standard practice, to kidnap and beat a 12yo girl to make her take the marriage? Good grief.
