I should report that after 6 weeks, my ear unblocked about 10 days ago. The trick was to take a lot of decongestants for 3 days — keeping to recommended max dose, of course. The doctor also prescribed a higher dosage of antihistamine tablets. Along with the Omnars nasal spray, the protocol worked after six weeks of even more reduced hearing.
It was my second bout of the year, so the doc advised that I should continue use the nasal spray from here on. That sound like a lot, but my here on is getting shorter, so . . .
I took a pic of the process of extricating the decongestants from the packaging. I had opened one of the 2 at this point.
Then I realized what I had said and smiled to myself.
=====================
I got back into a photo folder of our 2009 trip to Vancouver to visit PJ. I decided to make a quick poster board without any reediting or without very much designing. I just plopped the photos onto a virtual canvas in Photoshop and sized them to suit.

I have often wondered if pill manufacturers even employ engineers in designing their packaging. I have one that the backing can't be peeled and it is so thick, that I break the pill into two or three pieces trying to pop it out.
ReplyDeleteA very elderly person here who no longer tries the stupid "push it out" technique...but has a nice sharp knife point. Tools were invented for a reason!
ReplyDeleteI have caught myself feeling sorry for old people before quickly re-realizing 👀 R 1.
ReplyDeleteI find a paring knife with a good point (not the one that got broken off trying to separate chicken bits) very helpful. I'm on pretty much the same regime for ongoing sinus issues (further exacerbated by this ongoing flu). Isn't it fun?
ReplyDeleteI too struggle with opening bottles. It’s really frustrating! Glad your ear is better…
ReplyDeleteYay! You must be so happy to be able to hear properly again.
ReplyDeleteAh, so many types of packaging are fiddly or difficult to open. I have zero patience and attack with a scissor. I'm relieved about your ear, that must have been frustrating!
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy that your ear is unplugged. I'm not sure who designs packaging but some of them are impossible and I also take to the scissors.
ReplyDeleteGlad the hearing is back! Pill packaging is terrible.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that the ear unblocked! It's such an annoying and painful condition. I hated having ear issues! It's always a trick to open packages; does anyone besides me get cut sometimes?
ReplyDeleteGood news about your ear! I often resort to scissors to open those fiddly blister packs.
ReplyDeleteThose blister pacs can be very difficult. Maybe that's why they are called blister? Good news about your hearing.
ReplyDeleteGood news on the ear issue. When was the last time you saw PJ? They were to come visit but then got sick recently. Any plans for them to come before the end of the year?
ReplyDeleteYou have such a memory! Thanks for asking.
DeleteThey did come to Ontario for more than a week but to take care of a sick friend. Sue and Shauna got to Toronto for an afternoon visit, but I opted not to make the day trip there and back. PJ also got to Italy for a choir trip plus a bit of a holiday, so I think they are done travelling for awhile.
Yes, good news on the ear issue, dear friend. Lovely memories photo collage!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear the good news about your ear.
ReplyDelete(I forget I'm old too.)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the ear finally unblocked after six frustrating weeks
ReplyDeleteThin backing on the back of the blister pack? I've never heard of such a thing, and couldn't the pill be popped out right through that? I'm glad the combined treatments worked and you can now hear again.
ReplyDeleteGood news about the ear, six weeks is a long time to put up with that. The thin backing on the blister pack made me smile, I never know where to start peeling those either. And nice that PJ made it to Italy for the choir trip, I hope the weather was kind to them.

This "getting old" business is for the birds! Glad you got it all unplugged!

Three cheers on the ears! And I HATE blister packs!
ReplyDeleteAh, blister packs. You are droll.
ReplyDeleteI remember my dad commenting on all the 'old, sick people' in his long-term care home!
P.S. glad your ear is unblocked!
DeleteThat's a dandy photo board. It would make a neat wall photo. I hear you on the blister packs. I have just been issued a new drug and that is how it comes. Snarl.
ReplyDeleteYay for the unblocked ear!!!
ReplyDeleteGood news on the ears. I am taking notes as I have these problems too. Lovely job on your poster board.
