Brian Bakes Bread

Brian left us with a little gift after our maple meetup: a loaf of bread.

Sometime last autumn, he got hooked on baking no-knead bread, and he has become quite adept.

This is a sourdough cheese loaf. looks good, eh?

A closer view of the crusty goodness.

He scored designs and such into the crust. He said that he didn't have his beast implements at the cottage, but he still made it look extra interesting.

It wasn't long before we were cutting it and eating it, mostly in toast form, but it's delish either way.

Because I am who I am, I composited all four of the photos into a collage. If there's such a thing as a quadtych, I guess this is what it is.

Bread making is a real art which I have yet to master.

And I don't miss my bread making days; it was a lot of work. That loaf is beautiful.

Yes, that loaf is wonderful, and the crust is glorious. G has taken to making bread in an old two pound breadmaker that we got for the eldest...and she didn't want. The whole house smells marvelous when it is baking, and the bread is melt in your mouth glorious too. He takes extra steps that are not in the instructions also.

Brian certainly has made an attractive and as you attested to, delicious loaf of bread. I have also been making the no-knead bread and doing so in a cast iron dutch oven (does Brian as well?) It is relatively easy and the results are amazing. So much better than supermarket loaves.
