We made it back in one piece after really enjoying our week away. We had very nice weather for the most part, and we did a lot of reading and relaxing.
I guess it goes without saying that I have tons of photos, but here are just a few -- for now, at least.
Let's begin with the screened-in, converted planer mill that looks toward the old barn in this photo.
We spent a lot of time reading in here. I converted part of the next one to b&w to emphasize the colour of the blooming goldenrod outside.
We pitched a tent and slept in it for 4 nights of the 7 that we were there. On the first night we were awakened by a pack of yipping and howling coyotes. I think they were close by but on the other side of the road.
We enjoyed bright moonlight with several nights of a full moon or close to it.
This is the view of the farmhouse from close to where we pitched the tent.
Lots of these wildflower, which I am told are called The Devil's Paintbrush, were blooming around the place.
That's the broad overview -- for now, at least.
Welcome back, John. While admittedly I am not someone who would want to sleep outdoors in a tent, You seemed to embrace the adventure and were rewarded with moon shots. The devils paintbrush is a strikingly beautiful plant. And, the selective color shot did emphasize the natural colors all around.
ReplyDelete"The AC is On" has been included the A Sunday Drive for this week. Be assured that I hope this helps to point even more new visitors in your direction.

That looks like a lovely spot to camp. I like the way you treated that image .. it looks magical. Welcome back. Looking forward to more of your photos.

Once again I have to say that you are truly an artist with your camera, AC and I love how you combined the black and white effect while highlighting the yellow floral part.
ReplyDeleteWOW--fantastic photo essay.
ReplyDeleteI am insanely envious of your holiday adventures as I don't have a lovely cottage in the country at my disposal. However my son just bought a comfy camping trailer so perhaps I might be invited to join them for a weekend.... hope so! Fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your pictures and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
Are you sure that was a tent, or had aliens landed?! Hehehe! Great photo, though. :)
ReplyDeleteThat black and white photo is beautiful! And it doesn't diminish the presence of your wife either!
ReplyDeleteJohn, these pictures are gorgeous. I especially love seeing your tent lit up at night. Glad to hear you and Sue had such a nice time. Sad we couldn't join you for a couple of day.
ReplyDeleteRemember the good ol' days?
that selective coloring works really well.
ReplyDeletesounds wonderfully restful. just the ticket for starting fall.
Camping by moonlight with creatures yipping in the dark. What fun and how relaxing...:)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the person who said you are an artist with your camera! Beautiful shots of nature.
