Top Ten Songs Meme

For better or worse, Dale has tagged me to do this music meme of ten songs that I am currently enjoying. My CDs are mostly packed, and I don't do these kinds of lists very well, but I'm willing to give it a shot. In addition to my own inadequacies in these matters, however, is the realty that few will know the many of the artists or songs which I mention. In no particular order, except perhaps for the first, the songs are not listed in any particular order.

  1. Everytime (Barra McNeils)
  2. Un Nuovo Giorno (Andrea Bocelli)
  3. You Lift Me Up (Josh Groban)
  4. The Parting Glass (The Cottars)
  5. Cruisin' (Theresa Sykorka)
  6. Rise Again (The Rankin Family)
  7. The Night Pat Murphy Died (Great Big Sea)
  8. Figlio Perduto (Sarah Brightman)
  9. Voyage (John McDermott)
  10. Into the West (Annie Lennox)

Because this meme has been making the rounds, I am going to resist tagging specific people, but it would be interesting to see what various people might come up with.

I have honestly not responded to any "memes" which have been sent my way. It's an interesting concept and makes me think of the characters in the movie "High Fidelity" who are always trying to make the perfect list of best albums of all time, favorite songs of all time, etc. I just prefer to say that I like alot of things alot......

That's an interesting list! It's always fun to read these. This is blue2go, who had to move her blog.

I like number 10, I have always liked Annie Lennox since she was with the Eurythmics. She has a stunning voice.

Hmmmm, I might pick this one up, but I will really have to think about it for a while. So many good songs to choose from!

I meet Irene at a Indian Pow-Wow, she is so beautiful! she did the voice in Pochonas cartoon movie (i spelled Pocohnas wrong too, sorry! no spell check in here)...anyway, its always fun to share our music with one another...my daughter, shes the music collector, her room is full of everything music wise. stuff i never even heard before.

Oh, man... Sarah Brightman?! I don't know... It's not as if she's offensive or anything, but I've always found her to be easier on the eyes than the ears. She strikes me as the Yanni of the vocal world.

Great. Now you're going to tell me you're a big Yanni fan... with his flowing, wavey girlie-locks and silly little mustache. He's like the Fabio of the instumental world.

D'oh. Now I've offended all the romance novel cover-art fans! Fabio, with is ripply abs and shiny, bronze and hairless chest... He's like the Muzak of the book art world.

No. Don't tell me... Muzak?!

Note to Ted

It's how I check blogs, and it's my only method. Right now, for example, I don't even know where your blog is although I have been there once. It's not too hard to check that box, and it doesn't cost anything. Another note: it's also easier to track back to you if don't post anonymously.

AC: Since no one else is biting, I'll give it a go. I use a memory stick that clips on my arm when I ride the training rollers. Therefore, I make up play lists of 15 to 17 songs on a regular basis. This is generally enough for a 45 minute workout. So here are the 10 most frequent songs on the list (but it changes pretty regularly):

Boom, Like That---Mark Knopfler

Lonesome Whistle---Lowell George

Speed of the Sound of Loneliness which segues into Woke Up This Morning---A3

Remember When---Alan Jackson

Runaround Sue---Dion

Save a Horse---Big & Rich

I Ain't Blue---Bonnie Raitt

Highway 61 Revisited---Bob Dylan

Non, je ne regrette rien---Edith Piaf

Promised Land---Bruce Springsteen

Statte Vicino Amme---Jerry Vale

Song for Sonny Liston---Mark Knopfler

Ahhhh heck, this is impossible, every time I think of one, another pops into my mind. I mean who could resist putting in the Piaf song after seeing that scene in "Saving Private Ryan". And any song that begins with the lines of Dylan's famous song would have to be included:

God said to Abraham "Kill me a son"
Abe said "Man you must be puttin' me on"
God said "No"
Abe said "What?"
God said "You can do what you want, Abe,
But the next time you see me comin' you better run"
Abe said "Where you want this killin' done"
And God said "Out on Highway 61"

You gotta love that.

The Rankins. Aren't they fabulous? Thanks for playing, AC. You're a good sport.
