Outtakes

I post many photos, but some don't fit at the time, and so they remain in the queue for awhile.

I took the first photo from the second-floor window of our new health centre on a snowy and overcast day.

The next two photos of icicles on the former main street mansions. I have shown both these houses in various ways in previous posts.

I experimented with an older photo and added some subtle stars in the dark sky. Now that we see it in the lower quality that I use for blog pics, I am not sure if the stars will show up. Maybe I'll find out when I click on it, but I can't do that until after I post. We shall see. :)

I very recently posted a picture of dawn from my window, and then I posted one of the missing windows in the church turret. I decided to play some more by combining the two images and further editing the result. I admit that I am liking this one but not because it looks realistic.

The next two are not photos, but I attempted to write humorously and in a more interesting way than ordinary text. The second image contains a typo; I omitted the f in for. I can't fix that easily now, so I am posting as is. I will also opine more about it at the end.

Twenty years ago, five or take, I had a blogger friend who was a hospice nurse. One day he sat with a client who would soon be leaving this life. He encouraged the client to thank his body as a preparatory step. That idea has stuck with me. While my end is not imminent, or so I think and hope, it's not a bad idea to think upon these things with gratitude.

  1. Enjoyed your choices, those icicles? My goodness! I like the effects you’ve made today. The church window was lovely!

  2. What fun, writing as photography! Yes, gratitude for what we've got...lots that still works if we actually did an inventory! I'm curious what the church window would look like without going B&W but still with the fiery dawn!

  3. My outer body has its problems but I'm told all of the necessary inner workings are in good shape. I very grateful for that. I think you caught me when you wrote the first one!

  5. I thank my body almost daily for all it does so well for me, and all it has given me: two children and a lot of pleasure not being the least, by far. Nowadays I also tell it that it's safe. -Kate

  6. I like that idea, thanking for what it can still do - not what it can't!

  7. Great shots. The snowy landscape reminds me of some lovely Monets.

  8. I like the architecture of the house in the 3rd photo as much as the icicles. But I think my body is sometimes having trouble holding all my organs in! Though I can thank it for my being still alive!

  9. It has certainly been a winter for icicles.

  10. Cool pics. Wish I could fix the guttering to prevent damage behind those giant iceciles. Thanks for the hockey win. We really needed that. The US women's team is declining their invite to listen to the jerk's state of the union speech. Need to get him out of the office. Linda in Kansas

    1. Good for them. I hope the men do the same, but they did invite Patel into celebrate with them. I not pleased about that. I know there were some regressives on that team.

    2. I think Patel forgot his hyperactivity meds, but managed to get on the taxpayer-provided FBI plane to the games. Gross. I read each guy on the men's team has to check with their usual team about commitments before being permitted to attend the Union speech. 47 will find some way to take credit for the success. If any players attend, they'll get a good nap during the speech. Linda in Kansas

  11. I couldn't see the stars but my laptop tends to show photos darker. Icicles are cool--or are they cold? :)

  13. I like the idea of thanking the body. I haven't been any too fond of mine lately. Maybe it would behave a bit better if it got a hit of gratitude now and then. I do like the window combo and the font you used for the first graphic.

  14. I like your last paragraph.

  15. I like the idea of thanking one's body (no matter how decrepit it has become.)

  16. I so agree. Gratitude is so appropriate!

  17. I really like that last one. As for the photos, the stars do show on my phone, but if I embiggem the photo I can see them.

  18. Being content with what we have is the best blessing

  19. OK, I think you’re right. We need to be grateful to how our bodies have held up so far. Your icicles remind me of something we saw in Hokkaido during our trip. They called it Jewelry Ice.

  20. I love that first shot. Stunning and yes, I saw the stars.

I am grateful daily for my health and body. I'll still be grateful when it isn't so well, as I am living a good life.
