There was not a huge amount of snow accumulation, but there was a lot of drifting. I went out momentarily to try to capture the drift by our front door, for it almost always drifts somewhat in there. I thought that the shovel would show how deep the drift was, but the snow was so compacted that I could not even force the shovel into the snow. There were probably at least 18 inches of hard snow below the shovel.
Then, I tried to take a video, so I could let blog people hear the how ferocious wind was howling, but apparently, I misfired and only captured the inside of my pocket when I beat a hasty retreat from the merciless cold and wind. The reported temperature was -21C/-6F with a windchill of -30C/-22F although I think the wind chill was even worse than what was reported. It was brutal.
Although I failed miserably outside, I did get a couple of pics from my den.

| The drifting behind the satellite across the street is profound, but other sections were swept clear. |

| An interesting shape on our garage roof. |
It’s even colder (-25C/-13F) on this Sunday morning. No walkie again today, I guess. Meanwhile, I see that is abnormally warm on the west coast.

Indoors definitely the best place to be.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from another locked down blogger, where our temps are similar and the wind is rattling everything.
ReplyDeleteWow! Impressive drifts. It's not going to be easy to dig out. The garage roof photo tells it all.
ReplyDeleteHigh winds were expected here but didn't happen. I'm okay with that!
Our wind has finally subsided, but geese, our temps were just in the 20s F. I sure can't complain. Loved the drifts that show the forces of nature letting you know they're out there waiting to get you! Keep warm, just exercise with stairclimbing.
ReplyDeleteYikes. That's some serious snow and wind. You guys are having quite the winter. I thought we were cold (and are) but we don't have nearly as much snow or wind. Yet. Don't count your chickens, as my gran used to say!
ReplyDeleteI am inside for the rest of the weekend. This is crazy.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern on the garage roof looks like an alien being. Those are some mighty drifts!
ReplyDeleteAnything beyond -10 F is a bit outside my comfort zone and I just stay in if at all possible.
ReplyDeleteWoke to -10º here this Sunday morning. Have a play to go to this afternoon then family coming over to watch the Super Bowl and have a snacky supper.
ReplyDeleteAH! That kind of cold -no wonder you immediately came back inside. I like your bright yellow shovel, that drift of snow is insane. I hope the wind dies down.
ReplyDeleteNOOO, NO NO NO! Not for me at all. LOL
ReplyDeleteFar too cold. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that those temperatures aren't just uncomfortable but extremely dangerous. Stay inside! We west coasters (WA) have a high of 49 and low of 41 today.
ReplyDeleteBrrr! We’re just hoping for some rain around here. We might get some in the next week or so. Fingers crossed for snow in the mountains here.
ReplyDeleteThe warm up is on our doorstep John! Don't despair. We're going to have a brutal night then it looks like smooth sailing.
ReplyDeleteThe snow on the roof is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteVERY impressive! Looks like the Arctic species of the Tazmanian Devil played on your garage roof. Crop off the ground level and that makes a very nice enlarged photo. Hope your neighbor's drifts don't damage anything on his roof. (While he's up there clearing snow and his satellite, please ask him to add a pair of shutters to the front windows, to match the two pair on the side. It bothers me....) Be safe out there. Consider hiring out the task to clear your drifts. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThese are townies: two different dwellings. :)
DeleteDear friend, we had -25 Celsius here in Montreal as well! Your snow photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's best to stay inside with such conditions.
ReplyDeleteStay warm. We didn’t get out for our walks several times over the past several week. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteYikes, you are definitely not having a good winter either, AC. We had another 3 inches of snow to add to the last 20 inches and more forecast for this week. Spring will get here...eventually.
ReplyDeleteThe wind was awful here Saturday. This morning it was -13 too, but got all the way up to 31. Tomorrow, they are calling for temps in the 40s. It will be the first day in 27 days that we got above freezing. Lot of excitement about that. I hope it make it to you folks.
ReplyDeleteIt's been wicked cold. And that drifting...
