Last summer, with the Trumpian threats to Canadian sovereignty abounding, patriotism and messaging were expressed in various ways. Myriad tee-shirts expressed myriads of sentiments, or at least the same sentiment in myriads of ways. I wished to display my own patriotism in an understated and tasteful way, so I purchased one of these ↓ so, of course, I opted for the shirt on the bottom right with the red maple leaves.
I did post a few photos with it on last summer (first photo below), but I don't think that I ever drew attention to it. Now, so you can see it better, I've had Sue take a new photo, the second photo.
Now, go back ↑ and guess which one you think I have now ordered? Don't scroll until you guess. Answer will be revealed below.

If you guessed the goose and maple leaf at the top left, give yourself a cookie.
I have ordered my selection in my size and am waiting for Blackhare to print it. They take their time to fulfill custom orders, but I have a long time to go before I will require short sleeves.
Note: I started the post quite awhile ago before the shirt arrived, so here it is, trying to help my decrepit body to look a little better.
These shirts are rather pricey, but I have never indulged too much in fashion, so I trust that I can be excused these slight excesses.
But
But
But
I received a notice that they are doing a limited run of this shirt: same as the red maple leaves on black, but now black on red.
And
And
And
I couldn't help but order it. However, I do solemnly swear that any future tees will be plain and cheap — at least for now. That being said, I will likely require a few more because my older tees were meant for the size that I was and not the size that I am.

Very cool looking shirts! I didn’t guess the goose because I’m on the iPad and couldn’t see the tiny little red leaf. I guessed the bee actually. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was difficult to spot.
DeleteI guessed that you were getting the loosey goosey and I'm waiting for my Canadian Cookie. You are just spoiling yourself with 3 new shirts. Don't think you'll catch up to Sue's wardrobe. Can someone from Canada please come kidnap our Jerk and save our dwindling sanity? Not sure how he could ruin the happiness for hockey, but he managed. And I was wanting a Men vs Women game just for fun. Be safe with your snow. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteI deeply wish that someone could help you poor folk.
DeleteI guessed correctly! My third guess if you go with a new third design in the future would be the honeybees.
ReplyDeleteEvery maybe five or six years, I'll go onto one of those types of sites and order a half dozen t-shirts. Mine usually end up being phrases that harken back to my nostalgic childhood like "Goonies" or "Save Ferris" or "Talk to me Goose". Sadly, the current politic polarization has made wearing patriotic things not as desirable for me anymore. Maybe someday that will change back again.
The tee shirts are just magnificent. I guessed wrongly, that you would re-order the same one or the ram's head.
ReplyDeleteI love them both. And I hear you about the Ts of old not being quite the same as the T of now. I had to delay my March trip to your fair province but will wait till the Stratford festival opens and no doubt do a great deal to boost the economy!
ReplyDeleteStratford is where we got engaged and then spent our wedding night.
DeleteNo excuse for buying the red one too except you love to wear red. I guessed wrong on which one you ordered.
ReplyDeleteYou should post about milk bags and the history of how that came about.
I actually looked that up again today. I know that I posted once upon a time.
DeleteThe maple leaf is the best! I don't blame you ordering the red shirt as well. *I did guess correctly :D
ReplyDeleteYou deserve a little indulgence. I guessed the ram.
ReplyDeleteI guessed right....I thought it was pretty obvious!
ReplyDeleteYay! That's right – the T-shirts are fantastic... and I love your checkered hat.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you both.
I did guess the goose--honest! I love meaningful tee-shirts and collect them from places I go. I think you look great, very svelte.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a better photo!
ReplyDeleteI love ❤️ the shirts.
ReplyDeleteVery nice shirts. I personally like the strong graphic image of the ram.
ReplyDeleteI presumed the Canada Goose, and was correct.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'd say the goose is my least favourite Canadian, I do applaud your coded t-shirt habits.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Canadians are asserting their own identity and patriotism. It's a country with much to be proud of, and anything that defies the will of our arrogant and thuggish president is ultimately beneficial to everyone. The majority of Americans cringe at his efforts to bully fellow democracies.
ReplyDeleteI did try to guess your second shirt, but couldn't decide between the campfire and the goose.
I guessed right! And I like all of your selections.
ReplyDeleteI bought a "foxtail daffodils tulip" t-shirt, an even more subtle message than yours (first letters, you can figure it out i think). I just got one featuring the Walk for Peace but don't really like it. Like you, I seldom buy other wear anything with messages or slogans or brand names, but I guess I am changing my ways!
I like your T-shirts and it's ok if you shop a bit.
ReplyDeleteAah...Nice choice of T-shirts.
ReplyDeleteYay for the goose!
ReplyDeleteI love the Ts. Has anyone told you are just too darn cute? Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteYour tees are like a perfect mix of patriotism and personality, and it’s fun to follow your thought process from picking the subtle red maple leaves to discovering the limited black-on-red option. The way you weave fashion with self-reflection makes the post engaging and relatable.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a nice investment in national pride. It makes others smile!
ReplyDeleteOf course you had to have the red one. A necessary purchase. I have been looking at the website, and may now go for one of them, since you are looking so, um, patriotic.
