We are heading away for the weekend, so I thought I'd do a quick post of some recent photos that have to do with the changing of the seasons.
Yes, autumn colours are beginning to show in this part of the world. I expect that they will peak within two weeks and be just about done by four. Some of the trees are already bare, but I suspect they are either dead or dropped their leaves early as a response to our summer drought.
They are predicting a colder winter than last year, but since last year's was relatively mild (in local, Canadian terms) that doesn't necessarily mean that it will be frigid. After all, they predicted that autumn would be warmer than average, and that doesn't seem to be the case. Mind you, technically speaking, autumn isn't here yet.

A nearby row of trees is either dead or dropped their leaves early after a stressful, droughty summer. |

We begin to see colour in this view of our Mississippi River. |

Forlorn, denuded trees. Will they sprout leaves in the spring, or are they goners? |
Nice to see the fall colours appearing, although it certainly means that the weather is getting colder. Lots of trees near me have already lost their leaves as it was so hot and dry during the summer. I'm sad to see summer go, but I have to admit I like the change of seasons, and I like changing my summer teeshirts and capris for something a bit more cosy.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos, AC. I especially like the "in various stages" one. It's still a hot, sunny summer here in southern California...
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe fall colors your way are lovely. Lots of greens still here and our veggies are still growing with some surprise finds recently. Enjoy your weekend getaway. We're heading out in a couple of weeks as well and hope to see some fall color. I liked your views of your Missippi River.
ReplyDeletewow, those are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pictures A.C. I sure hope we have a mild winter this year!
ReplyDeleteLove Di ♥
You are an artiste, for sure. The combination of colors is awesome.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light in these photos.. particularly that first one. Hopefully they're not goners. Time will tell.
ReplyDeleteWe made a trip this past week to the Thousand Island area, and saw some of the autumnal colors emerging.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time of the year.
Drought has hit Ohio hard this year and the poor trees in our campground are seriously distressed. I doubt we'll have much color; already the leaves are simply dropping from the trees.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend; hope you return with more lovely photographs. On this post I lean towards the first one; I love the deep blue skies of autumn.
Love the shots!
ReplyDeleteA few leaves are falling here as well but nothing like that yet...
Hope you enjoyed your trip!

The Fall colours are here also. I hear do to the drought we have had this summer many trees will drop their lives early, even before the full change colour.
