My Canadiens Hockey Regalia

Canadiens Stuff

I usually miss out on Fun Mondays, bit I sometimes see their notices posted in blogs that I visit. This week I saw, via Ms Cellania, that the theme was to be Vintage Clothing, and I thought to look for my old university jacket. I had kept it for a very long time but figured that I had finally tossed it in our big across-province move a while back, and so I had, but I did spot my Canadiens jacket (left) in my search. It was then that I thought to post my various Canadiens souvenirs. (For those who don't know, the Montreal Canadiens are the world's most famous and storied hockey team.)

Although it might appear otherwise from this photo, I am not that avid a fan. In fact, for almost two decades, I watched very few games on tv. That being said, I find myself more interested again now that the NHL has reinvented itself and reduced all of the clutching and grabbing that used to drive me to distraction.

The coat (or jacket) that I have already mentioned was purchased second hand in a real deal. It's somewhat too small for my present frame but could fit if I were to ever lose fifteen pounds or so. However, I would hardly wear it anyway. These days, I'm not much into sporting logos. I once was and wore various Coke items, for example, including a sweat shirt, quite proudly.

So ... I don't wear the coat or the scarf. I have worn the toque a few times but not lately (except several times this winter when I roamed around inside the house at night after we had turned the thermostat way down for sleeping), and I have donned the T-shirt a few times.

The shirt, blanket (background item) and the scarf were all gifts, and both the scarf and blanket help to decorate my den: the blanket gets draped over my recliner and the scarf over a bookcase. After I took the photo, I decided to superimpose the old photo of me at about seven years of age in my hockey regalia. That's my uncle beside me. Now that the picture's completed, I don't really like the effect, but it's done, and so is this post. Thanks for visiting.

Ice hockey looks great fun, we don't even have an ice rink here except the temporary ones they set up at Christmas time.

I wonder have you read this somewhere before?

You certainly DO look like a fan (from the Photo)!! Of course getting a good deal is a wonderful coup too! I'm impressed with the bike riding (previous blog entries) - we have finally had our snow melt her in central Minnesota - but now it is getting cold again and we had snow flurries yesterday - I am not brave enough to ride my bike yet! (But it is inspiring to see others do so already!)

Now that is a jacket I think would be great to wear!!! I'm sort of a Hockey fan - and am most sad that most of the Canadian teams have moved Southward.

(For those who don't know, the - delete "Montreal Canadiens" and insert "Toronto Maple Leafs" - are the world's most famous and storied hockey team.)

Apart from this glaring error, a lovely post! LOL!!

I'm not sure whether to sing your national anthem or spit.

Sorry. Not good with hockey etiquette since all we have here in Texas is MINOR minor league...

*ahem*

Very nice. I suspect they do not talk to you the way my coat talks to me though.

That is quite a collection of Sports memorabilia.

Love the memorabilia...have been to one hockey game in my life and needed an oxygen tank, but at least there was no danger in getting hit by a puck...don't understand the rules, but do watch it on TV when I get tired of watching the paint dry.

Vintage clothing? That sounds like so much fun. I remember when my daughter was in school and we went shopping for a formal and her friend loved vintage clothing so they found this little shop where her friend got a gorgeous dinner gown from the fifties. She looked so elegant in it.

I watch hockey on t.v and the penguins are doing great. They have a fabulous young team.

Good display of the memorabilia. My stuff that I have saved would be called memorabilia by me and junk by the Spice. Why would she say that I never throw anything away? ec

We have a professional hockey team here too. In the desert. Think Jamaican bobsled team without the drive.

I went to Montreal for a hockey game a very long time ago...and someplace that had the BEST steak and cheese sandwiches.

My youngest son, at 33, lives and breathes hockey. He would love your memorabilia. And I like the photo of your younger self all decked out to play the game. It is all so very Canadian. :-)

I guess they build a momentum. Once you have more than one, you're a collector and people have a focus for giving you gifts because you collect (ready or not, here they come).

Very handsome duds and the picture of you and your uncle is sweet. My husband's colleague is Gordie Howe's son. Unfortunately, the significance of this had to be explained to clueless me :0)

Believe it or not, I'm here for Fun Monday. I didn't get through all the players then, and today I'm playing a bit of blog catch-up, a never-ending pursuit, I'm afraid.

You DO have quite a collection here, a nice departure from the other F.M. posts (sports theme). Personally, I think the super-imposed photo of you was an interesting addition to the clothing collage. :)
