Crocuses

Yesterday, since it was neither snowing nor raining, I thought to try to take some photos of Thesha's crocuses. Lovely flowers these, especially with their timing as harbingers of better weather, but taking crocus photos isn't all that easy. These plants are both sparse and low to the ground, and there is an almost inevitable background of dirt or even worse if last year's garden remains still ... er ... remain. These flowers don't last long either, so I resolved to try to get some pics yesterday, sometimes with the aid of extender rings to get me a bit closer. Here are some results ... with some sharpening help from Photoshop, of course. They're all clickable, and you can even view larger sizes after you do click (look for All Sizes at the top of each photo).

Thye must be snow covered by now if you weather is like ours. As a mistress weather in the temperate zone is such a tease: a little peek at the goodies and them covered with a chilly counterpane.

It must be going around, I posted my frozen daffys.

Yours were much better close ups!

Oh my, "Creaking to get the crocus". I'll leave these crocus' to the younger generation. Bending that far down has its risks, just as you indicate. I'm so glad they are here for us to enjoy, especially the closeups.

AC, these are fantastic photos. I've never looked at a crocus this closely, the petals seem to shimmer and the colors are so vibrant.

Your photos are well worth the effort, AC. I guess it's the aid of the Photoshop...but they look more like painting than photos. You have a wonderful, artistic eye.

Pretty! Our crocuses are long gone and the tulips have taken over!

Wow. The pollen granules on those luscious petals. Amazing how fresh and unperturbed they look given all the cold and blowing.

I'm jealous. There are no signs on crocuses here in Deertown... In fact it snowed again today! No real accumulation. Just a slushy, sleety mess.

My poor motorbike continues to sit idle. :(
