Singularity

Our daffodils, or many of them, are open. I noticed that they were all facing south (see arrow at back) although two in the foreground didn't quite make it that far. One stalwart soul, however, is doing her own thing and facing north. In case you miss it, the arrow in the foreground points to said flower. I call this daffodil Allyson, and if you can't read the name in Blogger's shrunken version, you may (or may not) detect it on the clickable version.

Full disclosure: I saw the singularity of the flower and named it Allyson, but Cuppa was the one bright enough to suggest that I take the picture and blog about it. I won't go into the full Allyson story here, but there are those who will understand and, hopefully, not be displeased.

Exposure and Perplexity

It was a week and a half ago that I posted photos of crocuses at my daughter's house. They have been wilting for over a week now although a few still show a bit of color in the foreground of this picture.

Meanwhile, her daffodils are blooming beautifully, spreading their own sunshine.

On the other hand, my crocuses have yet to open in this their first year. While a few have shown a bit of color, most look as though they won't bloom at all this year.

While I'm not sure of all the possible reasons, one thing I do know is the Thesha's flowers enjoy a fine southern exposure while mine receive some morning sun. It makes a difference.

Proper exposure is good for plants. For kids too. A little object lesson there.

On another note, I'd like to point out the three larger spring plant behind the tree. When I bought bulbs last fall, I vaguely recall purchasing and planting three more expensive ones in addition to the crocuses and daffodils. Now, I can't remember what they are, and apparently I didn't keep the package. Now among other traits, such as dimwittedness, I'm perplexed.

Foto Friday

On a day when I've had enough of this blasted two-week cold, I post these daffodils pics. I'm not particularly happy with them, but I'm not particularly happy with anything right now. This cold began two weeks ago today, and although it's not really a cold anymore, it is still a sore throat and a cough and a run-over-by-a-truck sort of feeling. A few days ago I thought I had turned the corner, but if I did so it was only to face into a stiff with accompanied by hail and sleet. This affliction seems to cycle and recycle with all of -- Cuppa, Nikki Dee, and Thesha. I'd be mighty pleased for it to make a final exit.
