Weather and Disappointment

Crazy weather hereabouts lately. We went from extremely high winds pre-Christmas winds and Christmas Eve temperatures reaching into the high teens °C. Christmas Day was cloudy but still mild enough to be comfortable outside as you will see in the photos and video below. That weather was followed by freezing rain on the weekend. Now we are having our first major snowfall of the season. Heck it is our first real snowfall period.

I have just been out testing the roads because we had tickets to see Star Wars in the city, but the roads were pretty horrendous. The access ramp to the highway was closed. So, there is nothing to do but cancel our plans, forfeit the $ already spent, and be disappointed. Yes, the kids are quite disappointed. So am I.

They have been catching up on the original Star Wars series lately to ready themselves for the new adventure. They were quite excited, and now this. We even joined them for the Jedi movie last evening. Ah well.

One gift for Christmas was new scooters for the kids. In most winters, they wouldn't be able to try them out until MArch or April, but they had them out on Christmas Day (photos and video). We even stopped by the park for awhile. I sat on the slide, and they enjoyed plowing into me.

Groan. There's that word. Plow. Ugh.

  1. Such lovely weather. You get to see a lot of your little sweeties. How wonderful. Too bad it chose to be miserable today.

  5. Whew! I finally found your blog again. I have missed reading a viewing so many of my favorites thanks to an unfixable (is that a word) problem with google and blogspot. But now I can get caught up on yours and the others. Just give me time.

  7. Too bad abut the weather cancelling the movie plans, just maybe you could contact the theatre and be allowed to go another time? Anyway, it might be worth a try as there is nothing to lose. The scooters looked like fun for younger folks. And, I was wondering if you had any after-effect aches from the slide?
Yes, we have finally had some winter weather (our first) in NH yesterday and continuing today.

  10. It sounds like the exact same weather we are having: a lot of wind and temperatures that are way too high for this time of year. But, for next month they have promised us weather from the East (ie Russia, ie very cold), so it should become a bit wintery soon.

  11. Pretty messy out there today but we are heading to the Mayor's New Year Celebration in the Park.... horse drawn sleigh rides (probably hay wagon rides as there's not much snow), bonfire, hot chocolate, music, ice sculptures.
Sending you and your family Best Wishes for good health and lots of good times in 2016!
