Outhouse Outtakes

Well, the girls' wedding finally transpired on the weekend, so perhaps life will return to normal. Maybe I'll even get back to posting a little more frequently that every ten days or so. But not yet.

I have a ton of wedding photos on my external hard drive, but that's still in the country with the ladies, so for now I'll just say hello and post a few photos of the Riverwood outhouse.

We do have indoor plumbing at Riverwood, but when hordes descend as they did on the weekend, it's nice for them and for the system to have an alternative. So, my BroIL and SonIL took some time to refurbish the place by redigging the hole that had filled in, and my SisIL redecorated the interior. The third picture below is the view from the door. Have you ever seen such an outhouse?

I trust you are all doing well without me out there in Blogdom. I'll be back again when I can.

  3. Now THAT is an outhouse :)

Glad to hear you survived the wedding. It's amazing how one day can take up so much time in your life prior to the actual day. And then the day after you sit there thinking 'Wow, it's over' and you're happy & sad all at the same time. *sigh*

  4. Hey John, this is Heather using Brian's google ID: Thought I'd comment seeing last night Bri and I stayed in what resembled the gift shop at the Art Gallery of Northern Ontario. You know Catherine's 'Would you rather?' game. We'd take both the fart and the vomit. I know our road trip was 'no reservations' --well we had plenty last night. However, it has inspired more thought about outhouses. Our next one is going to be down by the Rayner Playner Mill: The Planetarium. We figure we could do a lot working with full moons and black holes, Uranus...

  6. That's the most brilliant way to dress up an outhouse I've ever seen (and I have seen some).
Glad the wedding went well, and look forward to those pictures!

  8. glad the wedding was a smash celebration.

if one has to use an outhouse, that's a pretty accomodating looking cabin commode.

  9. That is one classy outhouse! Hope it has a cushy seat and no spiders under the rim.

  10. And as they say, perspective is EVERYTHING. That last shot is taken from the seat, isn't it?

  14. Your outhouse is too high brow for me. To enjoy a scene I just leave the door open on mine.

I wish the couple a wonderful life together.

  15. I love the outhouse...but I disagree with one thing you said in your entry.
No, we are not doing well without you. Take as much time between blog entries as you like...but don't leave us. Your photos and your wry take on things are so good to see and read. !!

None of the outhouses in my memory resemble what you have pictured here.

So happy for the girls. Am looking forward to the pictures.
