Lip-Smacking Good

When Sue and Sha were just a little over an hour from home, they stopped at Kingston for food and fuel. Sha sent this photo and wrote: "Amma discovers Popeyes."

When they were back on the road, Sue shared her endorsement: "That was the most spectacular chicken sandwich I have ever ever had. It’s gonna go down in the Hall of Fame wonderful food."

I had barely heard of Popeyes, and now I am wondering where the closest one is. I guess the full name is Popeyes Louisiana Chicken, and GMAP tells me that the nearest is in Smiths Falls, just a half hour away. There are several in Ottawa with the closest also being about a half hour away. But then we'd have to pass Swiss Chalet to get to it, and that would be tough.

A few hours later, she was home, but she didn’t require much for supper for some reason.

  1. Although we don't have them nearby, I have run across quite a few of them in the southern parts of our country. I have eaten at a number of them and I admit their chicken sandwiches are quite tasty. I wouldn't rank them as the best I've ever had but for a fast food restaurant, they are definitely number one.

  3. Glad to hear about another fast food place which delivers delicious. I've been eating McD's Crispy Delux, where I take the chicken off the bun and all the trimmings and eat them with a fork. A nice enough bun, but I prefer the chicken, lettuce and tomatoes separate. It's just me.

  4. Popeyes' food tends to overly salted in my opinion. Glad Sue enjoyed her sandwich.

  6. lol, I'm glad she enjoyed her epic sandwich! I worked in an office with a lot of fans, they would bring in Popeye's frequently. I never tried it, was vegetarian at the time.

  7. Apparently there's a Popeyes in Saskatoon, the city we most often go to for medical needs. I'll check out that chicken sandwich one of these times when we're trying to decide on a place to eat. Cute pic of Sue. -Kate

  8. Since I don't do any business with Chic Fil A (can't even spell it), I should see if we have a Popeyes around me. That's quite an endorsement from Sue!

  14. There was talk a couple of years ago about this chain coming to Australia but nothing has eventuated yet. There are so many other ‘chicken’ places I wonder if they’ll get a foothold in the market
