When I checked on family whereabouts yesterday morning, I saw that Jonathan was still at home. I wondered if he were ill but discovered that he was enjoying a snow day. That makes two consecutive days of scholarly reprieve. Living in a largely rural region, it takes time to plow out, so the buses were inactive for a second day.
However, your two beloved oldies kept up their rhythm (the spelling of which throws me every time) by opting for a walk along the nearby trail. The wind was up, so we reasoned that we might be more sheltered along the trail. Indeed, we were a bit more sheltered but not completely, so it was a cold walk as you might deduce from seeing from our rosy cheeks, Susie's especially. We felt the cold more than on the recent Coldest Day, even though the temperature was somewhat higher.

Poor guy. Having a garage would surely help with that! Wait, what’s that door behind the car!! Glad you all braved the cold which was so good for you! The walk, not necessarily the cold.
ReplyDeleteI think I’d use the garage if I were him.
ReplyDeleteI don’t know how we’ll walk in the great outdoors here today. The wind is brutal! Oh well, we Canadians are a hardy bunch!
I bet his garage is full of lawnmowers! I see it was a two hat day, AC.
ReplyDeleteI have been astonished at the waterfowl in our rivers still doing their regular bird things. It is so cold. I know they're built for this, but the fact that they seem equally comfortable outside right now when it's below zero and when it's super duper hot is shocking. Why can't humans be more like that?
ReplyDeleteSue's ears are exposed! Brrrr. Your Minnesota cousins know something about that as well.

DeleteSue's ears are very sensitive, but she has little 'earmuffs/pads' that cover her ears.
DeleteBeing partially red-green colorblind, your rosy cheeks was not spotted by me. If you started to turn blue or purple, perhaps I might have noticed.
ReplyDeleteThe cleaning off of the car reminds me of the sound of windshields being scraped. A Canadian melody.
ReplyDeleteYou both look great 👍 I love ❤️ your photos and your red coat.
ReplyDeleteI had to wonder why he isn't using the garage, like Barbara & Marie mentioned. I hope you came home to a nice toasty beverage after your chilly walk. Are we sure the ducks aren't cold?
ReplyDeleteI admire your dedication! I'm trying to get out on a walk every day too although wind has made it difficult some days. I'm fine with rain, just not getting hit in the head by a falling branch. I haven't scraped my windshield for decades; my cars are spoiled and live in the garage. :)
ReplyDeleteYou two are brave. No walks for me in this cold weather. I get a mile by going to the Walk at Home program.
ReplyDeleteWow! I did attend school in Northern New Hampshire for a while so I have experienced the White mountains and the Beautiful winter time in the country. But I have to say I'm happy to be home in Honolulu for writing about a little rain later this week LOL. Aloha my friend, you both look wonderful in your picture
ReplyDeleteFretting about the rain but who knows. Might be all right about it or take a picture also. Aloha haha
DeleteIt looks beautiful in the snow and you two look great!
ReplyDeleteThe hike through the snow looks wonderful, and good you are both well bundled. I'm not sure I would enjoy full-time exposure, but I would absolutely enjoy occasional hikes in the snow!
ReplyDeleteIt evokes a quintessential winter day, marked by snowbound routines and small moments of quiet resilience
ReplyDeleteThe picture of Sue on the bridge is lovely--a Japanese feel to it.
ReplyDeleteYou hardy Canadians are inspiring!
ReplyDeleteYou look handsome in your red coat, but those ducks look like they're freezing!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you and Sue do not let a school snow day stop you from getting out for a walk. Aside from a 5-inch snowfall on Dec 2, all we have had is cold temps and windy days. Maybe there's still the possibility of a White Christmas here.
ReplyDeleteIt takes real dedication to get out and walk on a snow day like that. I could not stand the cold weather today. I love the vintage look you gave the neighbour shoveling.
ReplyDeleteThe man needs a snow brush. He may just total his windshield wipers with that shovel. Brrrr. I was out and back in again, fast.
