Happy Sunday morning when my second cup of coffee will be a flavour that they call Smores. This blend is a new weekend treat that sure smells good brewing. While it might smell better than it tastes, it does taste quite good too. I use less expensive, plain coffee throughout the week and also for my first cup on the weekends. My second cup on the weekend is a bit of a treat.

When I posted the photo of our neighbour shovelling snow of his car (there is another version, below) a few readers opined that he could use his garage to keep the snow off. Except nobody does on this block of townies because people need the space to store things. When I say nobody, of course I mean most people. We make space for our car, mostly because the previous owner made two big overhead shelves where we can keep our lawnmower and other items, including summer ornaments and such.

Speaking of garages, our adjacent neighbour (who is one the few other folk on the block to park in her garage in winter) impresses me greatly, when, upon peering from my den window, I chance to see actually her backing the car into the garage. Our garages are narrow, and I am even careful about driving in and reversing out, but she backs in for some reason. In general, people backing into parking spaces annoy me, but some people are totally committed to it.

This week, we noticed the weak and cold winter sun lowering in the west before sunset. I saw it from the den window, but I went upstairs for a better and less obstructed view. Once again, I cajoled Photoshop into removing wires for me.

ReplyDeleteDan backs our car into the barn. It makes for a faster take out. Actually if I do the take out part I stand outside the car and tell it to pull forward. It listens to me! It's a great feature if someone parks too close on the driver's side and you can't get in the car.
I used to love flavored coffee. I am not sure why that changed. I don't even take sugar any more. I guess that would leave S'more for you.😂

I enjoyed your take on the two photos merged for the bench. Poor thing doesn't offer respite these days! One must keep on walking, or maybe pause for a photo! I try backing into my regular parking place, because I never know what's going to be behind me if I have to back out (parking lot and lots of deliveries here.) And I've backed into people's cars twice...no thanks!

ReplyDeleteIt always amazes me of the people who have a three car garage in our neighborhood and have to park on the drive. When you see the door opened it is packed floor to ceiling. I don't know how you would ever find something!

With whom, indeed. Object of the preposition. You have lots of snow. We need some. (in the mountains) I'm one of the few in my cul-de-sac who parks in my garage. As you say, people either need storage room or have too much stuff--or both?

ReplyDeleteI often back into parking spots but it is more of a defensive thing. When I pull close to a spot, I have views all around me in both direction. When I pull out of the spot later front first, I again have great visibility. When I back out of spots, especially when surrounded by tall vehicles, I am wholly dependent on sensors and people slowing down to give me time to back out. None of those things are true with garages though and we both pull into ours.

Before we moved to Nashua, NH, we lived in NJ, also VA where snowfall was minimal, and we never had a garage for our vehicles. Snow clearing them was a necessity, now we have underground parking, a paid amenity, but a very worthwhile one. Alas, we have no garage storage, but there are storage units on our floor, so rather convenient for everything other than yard equipment which we do not need now.

ReplyDeleteI sure don't like backing in. Our kids in Bells Corners bought a 2nd car. They have room to park three in the drive. They do put on car in the garage, though.
ReplyDeleteBefore I retired, NNDSB made us do 15 minutes of exercise in the morning. Drove me nuts. We used to sing Head and Shoulders backwards!
