Our baby completes her 53rd year tomorrow, but we'll be having a family dinner tonight because — kids and their work schedules and their whatnots. I will likely have some photos to post tomorrow, but for today, I will take you back — way back. I did scan many old slides this year, so I don't think I have posted any of these previously: perhaps one. They are more or less in chronological order.

| She enjoyed telling my mother and father about the fish that got away. It was THIS big. |

| A snuggle in my den. The pictures to the left and right on the bookshelf behind me there are also behind me in my present den more than 4 decades later. |

These are wonderful snippets of her and your lives! I really enjoyed the decor and fashions! And thinking how you were teaching at the time leads me to wonder when you retired, I bet there’s a story there! Happy birthday Shauna!
ReplyDeleteYes to plaid, and I felt very good about it in the early 70s. Now, I don’t even like to wear plaid pyjamas.
DeleteHappy birthday to Sha! Did you really wear plaid pants?
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your young woman! Great memories!
ReplyDeleteOh I have pics somewhere of my hubby wearing plaid pants and a jacket! Orange/black/white...those date a person!
ReplyDeleteWonderful.
Those old fashions! And how sharp we thought we were. What a happy girl she is, lovely.
ReplyDeleteMark had a pair of plaid pants! Happy birthday to your beautiful daughter.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see that the early 70's extended up north of our border too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to her!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet collection of pictures, I think I had similar yellow jammies. When I was young, I loved those gold satin Christmas baubles I thought they were so fancy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful step back in time! Happy Birthday to Sha! I remember the plaid pants era. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful family photos! A few fun (for me) observations:
ReplyDelete1. Happy Birthday to Sha!
2. I was surprised Sue’s hair was so dark brown…. I had always envisioned a more medium brown.
3. Sha was very adorable as a baby!
4. You appear to take after your Mom more facially than yours Dad…. it is always enjoyable to see photos of our parents.
5. Your plaid pants…. very cool. I remember having a few pairs myself ! I could be nudged into getting another pair if they even became in style (available) again. I wear lots of plaid shirts and a couple of plaid jackets today.

Oh, and also…. I envy that your hair and beard were uniformly very dark. For me, while my hair was dark brown, my beard and moustache were more akin to a calico cat….. blacks, browns, reds, and blond hairs throughout. Being grey now has given me more uniformity…. all gunmetal grey.

Oddly enough, not going completely gray, I have a total lack of beard uniformity.
DeleteBeautiful photos. ❤️ Happy Birthday 🎂 to her.
ReplyDeleteI love these. The story is a fine one. The baby and girl is lovely and lovable. The beard is quite a different colour. As is Cuppa's and your hair, for sure. Nice restoration job from the slides.
ReplyDeleteSo cute and adorable. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteNice photo essay of the birthday girl.
ReplyDeleteThat last pic...I miss those days with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and family memories! And the styles of the times!
ReplyDeleteOld photos are the real treasures in life I've always said. These are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, AC. Great memories!
ReplyDeleteTime is a funny thing. One minute they are little children. The next minute you are celebrating theirb53rd birthdays.
