Our neighbour took down is Halloween display this week. Here is what he was doing yesterday. Although he will unpack and add many more ornaments, he wanted to get this up before the first snow, which is supposed to be coming today.
Last night, I took a picture from my den. Sue opines that we have the best view on the street. As I wrote earlier, it will get pretty crowded over there before too long, but this simple display is very nice, indeed.
I understand that many of my more southerly friends will think this to be rather early, but it is getting cold already, and unlike you, we don't have an intervening big holiday. Our first storm is about to hit, and it is time to begin lighting our world as the darkness descends.

It's not early here, AC. It seems to start in October. The view is nice.
ReplyDeleteOf course, you are north too: more north than I actually. In the past I have had readers chime in that this is early. We shall see what others may note today, assuming that others do note things.
DeleteIt is snowing here and I was thinking of getting Frank the snowman out of his summer shelter. I may wait a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteEasier on the cold hands and fingers to get it set up early. I laughed at Sue placing the decor until she found just the right spot, I do that, too!
ReplyDeleteHere comes the snow!
ReplyDeleteNot too early for you all. I'm just starting "thinking" about holidays.
ReplyDeleteWe missed out on the first storm fortunately, but not by that many miles. But yes, my mind is elsewhere for another couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteIt starts earlier and earlier--now it's sometimes September and always October. I have fall decorations up but then I'm hosting Thanksgiving. (and also Xmas Eve) Having a big house is a mixed blessing! Love the cardinal light.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Margaret it starts earlier and earlier especially in the stores. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. We are getting snow ❄️ here in Montreal and it is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYour neighbourhood sounds beautifully alive with early winter spirit
ReplyDeleteI love it. My Christmas tree is up and we are getting the rest of the decorations up too.
ReplyDeleteIt's warmer today and our snow is melting, so I suspect many of my neighbours are doing the same thing this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWe've also had Christmas stuff on sale for a while so why not put it up?
ReplyDeleteI will have my son get out the Box of Christmas when he comes over for my mid December birthday. It's become the after dinner entertainment, putting out the (few) decorations. He likes to do it. I like to watch.
ReplyDeleteI'm always on the late side for Christmas decorations. Since we have a real tree, we wait till around the 15th. Some red and green begins to creep.into.the house in early December though.
ReplyDeleteWe don't decorate outside, really. A wreath. But our tree an ornaments at at the other house. We will bring them up after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteLike you, we are experiencing our first winter storm. Stay warm!
I'm Southern and I understand perfectly! I'm itching to put my tree up before our Thanksgiving...I just may do it.
ReplyDeleteHappy week!
hugs
Donna
It’s never too early for some folks even here in Nashua, NH. Folks here are also putting out Christmas displays. I have already seen outdoor lightings and yard displays. No forecast of snow here yet, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteSo much to love about this! I love the fact that you can walk around and enjoy your neighbor's while they are putting up the decorations also.
ReplyDeleteThe Cardinal Snowy thing is beautiful! That is exactly something I'd enjoy too. Warm morning and evening light is welcomed as we get into these very short days.
My son just sent me some photos of where he lives and they are having lake effect snow. Something like 10 inches already this Monday morning.
Is he near the Great Lakes?
DeleteAfter Remembrance Day the Christmas decorating begins here.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful post. Thank you
ReplyDeleteYou can put them up but should never turn them on until Dec. 1st!
