Oh Lacey! What odious vehicle of human torture hath pulled onto your street‽
Surely your kind and beloved humans would not foist bath, brushing, and shaving upon your exalted body.
Alas! They did.
Enter the cat groomer lady and her portable spa. She took her time to gently attend to the old puss. She shaved, washed, dried and brushed in a very non-traumatizing fashion.
Here Lacey is resting in the dryer although she was not being actively dried in the photo.

Washed and brushed with her hindmost quarters shaved. |
But she is now more than just Lacey. She is also our little HarlyPoo. I thought that her new do looked poodle-like, and since she is a harlequin tabby, Sue dubbed her our HarlyPoo.
Her back half looks like suede to me, for in most light it looks a little browner and darker that in the photo. I kid that she looks like she is wearing suede pants. Sue chimes in, "With fluffy stockings too."
All is right with the world. She still loves Sue and she has frequently been availing herself of Sue's lap. Lacey was supposed to be my cat since I am more of an ailurophile than Sue, but Lacey HarlyPoo always had a different idea.
I didn't know that was done to cats. Does she even realize that the hair has been shaved I wonder?
ReplyDeleteOne my very pregnant cats couldn't groom her hind area, and had some leavings stuck in her fur back there. I remember how grateful she was that I used a warm wash cloth to relieve her of the offending mass. I'm sure Lacey will be grateful in her own way. Maybe not with the new name.
ReplyDeleteWe had to have our knotty Persian shaved, but she was so wild with the groomer that we had to have it done st the vet under sedation. Very $$
ReplyDeleteLacey looks quite stylish. I'm the one who gets the glare around here.
ReplyDeleteShe looks like she is blaming you for the whole experience. What a glare.
ReplyDeleteLacey is beautiful. Not happy, but beautiful 😍 ❤️
ReplyDeleteHaving once tried to bathe a cat I must ask, did the groomer wear a suit of chain mail?
ReplyDeleteIt went surprisingly well. She knew what she was doing.
DeleteWhoa. Serious stinkeye there. Watch your back
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about shaving cats hindquarters but it makes sense if they're not grooming there. It would get rather nasty.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture made me laugh. Oh that cat is really giving you the stink eye. That is so funny.
ReplyDeleteGlad it wasn't too traumatic for her!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know cats got that much of their body shaved. Hope it grows back before the cold winters. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteOnly out of necessity.
DeleteGreat post! I have bathed a cat before..might still have the scars to prove it.
ReplyDeleteAwwww....bless her feline heart.
ReplyDeleteLol, that glare.
ReplyDeleteWe are considering the same (neck down) for our cat that has EXTREMELY long fur that gets out of control. We are thinking of doing it this September for him.
ReplyDeleteIt is sometimes needed for a cat who cannot get all groomed well. Our cat it dedicated and we brush, but he is so long it is a losing battle at this point.

What an expressive post and wonderful portrait at the end! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAC, in the rush of caring for my husband medical condition, I have missed way too many of your posts! I just want you to know why I haven't been around. He's going into care today at least temporarily and it is the hardest day of my life. But I will carry on with the blog because it's so important in my heart that I do so. I love you. Thanks for your understanding and your wonderful visits aloha
She looks so calm and content after her gentle spa day
