Sorry, Barbara
Having recently posted my adoration of all things Barbara Kingsolver, I regret to inform you that I am giving up on her latest tome, Lacuna. I may be missing a spellbinder in the last 500 pages as opposed to the first rather plodding 200 pages, but that's a chance that I will have to take. I think Kingsolver does the ordinary but resourceful female, as opposed to an historical male protagonist, very well and should consider returning to those roots. With 500 pages left forever unread, perhaps I am being rash, but for me, Lacuna seemed to be a passageway to nowhere.
