Orphan Photos 5: Old Men

These photos are not quite true orphans because I haven't forgotten them at all. I have been just posting other things. I like these candid photos of old fellas, particularly the third one.

One day, I spotted this old gent sitting outside a cafe. He was across the street, but I zoomed as best I could and even then, cropped somewhat afterward. What is he musing over? Is it a past loss, or is it perhaps that he's just waiting for someone to fetch his coffee?

Eventually, I saw another way to edit the photo. I can't make up my mind.

On a walk in the neighbourhood park, I couldn't resist shooting this old guy with the grand beard mowing his back lawn. While I like the previous two photos, I like this one even more.

In the coffee shop, I spotted two old goats having a stare-down.

  1. I like the sepia shot but would like to see it cropped like the color photo which would convey more of the 'loneliness' or thoughtfulness of the photo.

I would love to see the place in that last shot! Amazing!

  11. The red socks in the first photograph really stand out. I like the lawnmower one - very atmospheric.

  12. I have been having an awful time with my phone but I vote for the first photo. Set against the black background, the figure of the man at the coffee shop really stands out. I'd mute the color of the brick wall but leave it as it is. I am going to guess that the old man is not a sad man by nature. He looks very kempt and his red socks quite cheerful. I am betting it is a momentary pensiveness, brought on by the fact that he is at a coffee shop but there is no coffee in front of him.

  14. The first photo conveys a sadness. The lawn mowing guy conveys a man on a mission. The two old goats convey humor!
