We returned to the putative crocuses patch; alas, there was no change with just two slender shoots once again striving to live. We both tried a shot, but we weren’t successful with our results being on the blurry side. It’s a tough task for seniors to get down and get the shot.
I realized that my sleep was over at 5:30 yesterday morning after only 4:40 of sleep, so I rose up. It was better than the 4:10 of the previous night and also better because I went to sleep earlier and got up earlier, which is preferrable to late and late. On the previous night, it had taken me hours to fall asleep, and that grinds my gears. (Last night, I got a whopping 3:40. This is unusual, even for me.)
Shortly after 9, I found myself at the grocery store. A little later I was off to Ashton Church to pick up apple pies for Easter only to find the door shuttered. Apparently pickup will be next Saturday. It's okay; it is only a 10-minute drive.
Closed or not, I am posting a photo of the church. You’ve seen it before if you’ve been visiting me for a few years, but I don’t think I posted anything last year. Maybe I'll take ann inside photo next week.
Here's another photo of the shed on the same farm. I brightened the photo a little in this case to try to make the scene a little more appealing.

What a beautiful church! My dad used to complain about his sleep cycle and then he decided he'd sleep when he felt like it and be up when he felt like it. He'd be up all hours of the night writing his great American Novel until he felt like laying down or if it was winter, he'd go cross country skiing by moonlight.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to adopt his attitude.
Hello darkness my old friend....
Are you really tired during the daytime? Our sleep cycles really go wonky the elder we get. I've seen that with my FIL, MIL, and other folks. We should be in college pulling all nighters!
Hope you get some good rest soon.
If consecutive nights accumulate like this, it gets a bit much. I need to sleep over 5 hours, so 3 in a row like this can get to me. I don’t know why this is happening all of a sudden.
DeleteYes, generally mine last a couple of days and then I just get one decent night. Hope it gets much better.
DeleteLoved the snowy geese photo. Hope sleep comes for you and you get a nap. Some days I even have 2...but yesterday no nap and couldn't pull myself away from my audio book until several hours past my usual bedtime. Then a dream shook me awake at my normal 7ish time.
ReplyDeleteI once in a while wake very early, done for the night. So I get up and doing. Usually it leads to a nap after breakfast!
ReplyDeleteEven naps are problematic. :(
DeleteThose snowy shots are beautiful but they sure look cold.
ReplyDeleteIt has been rather miserable lately.
DeleteIt's been winter too long there! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteIt goes on and on.
DeleteLovely photos.
ReplyDeleteThat is a smart little church. I finally got a good sleep, after two nights of not being able to settle down. It feels good.
ReplyDeleteI love that tree/geese shot--very otherworldly. Sorry about the sleep! I had trouble getting to sleep the night before last and was exhausted at the end of the day yesterday. I did do better last night, whew!
ReplyDeleteSome nice shots there.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful, John. The church shot is striking.
ReplyDeleteOh I can certainly relate to bending down to the ground to get those shots. A quaint church and a lovely foggy shot across the field to the geese and lake/river beyond. Your brightening of the photo worked well, another pretty one.
ReplyDeleteThe angles on the church make it a great photographic subject.
ReplyDeleteI did not recognise that it was a person in the first shot. I just saw a few shapes and colors.
ReplyDeleteI too might (unexpectedly) find myself at the grocery store, with so little sleep. I know this is somewhat routine for you, but sigh.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely church. I hear you abou the sleep thing. Both JG and I are having issues in that our skeletons don't like us and sleep is hard to find. Except in the middle of the day while trying to concentrate on something. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteSnowy, cold, blowy. But, spring will come.
That is a sweet little churches. The geese photo is a good one too. Sorry about the pies! I'd bring you one if it wasn't so far 😉
ReplyDeleteI still enjoy seeing snow in your series
ReplyDeleteIt might have been very cold and blustery, but the photograph with the geese is atmospheric.
ReplyDeleteI laughed at your before and after shots - almost like Alice in Wonderland!
You’re so funny, trying so hard to get a close up of a plant. Intrepid photographer! Anyway, you got some nice shots. Too bad no pie.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the sleep. It is such a pain.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely church!
