I've recently been digitizing more old slides. It being SatCaturday, I found some that I could post.
Being friendly with a cat lady back in 1971, we were encouraged to enter our household pet in a cat show just for fun. Off we went to London, Ontario with Dusty in tow.
One of the judges liked her and awarded her a ribbon: second place, I believe. She behaved well.
A friend of our friend was showing Persians, and I very much liked this little red classic tabby kitten.
We took Baron home. He grew a bit although he never became a big cat.
Here is a somewhere blurry photo of a very hairy me, holding the pair of them. You can see how calm and happy they were to be held.

Oh, I always love an orange cat - they have the best personalities. Dusty looks sweet as well!
ReplyDeleteWonderful kitties! I never attended a cat show !
ReplyDeletePretty kitties.
ReplyDeleteHA, most cats hate being held and will struggle. Every year I want a photo of me with Mari in my black cat Halloween shirt (I like black cats and I cannot lie) and Mari NEVER cooperates.
ReplyDeleteSounded like a fun experience. That's a great photo of you with yours.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine getting a cat to cooperate at a cat show. You had 2 cuties.
ReplyDeleteI loved your comment today.
What a sweetie. And you are obviously a cat whisperer, hmm? I have a cat show story, and may tell it on the blog some day when all other invention fails me. You are awesome, getting posts up daily, you know.
ReplyDeleteI didn't intend to post today, but once I reviewed my latest conversion and realized that it was Caturday . . .
DeleteI honestly tried to take a day off, but I capitulated.
Interesting….. your photos from 1971….. are very interesting to me in the the last two have the appearance and grain, and “muted” hues of a color photograph from ~50 years ago….. but the others appear more “modern in terms of appearing more like the way film images looked from the 90s to the present. … in terms of sharpness, grain and hues of the color. When you scanned these, may I ask if you may have color/texture adjusted the first few?
ReplyDeleteIt was just a striking difference to my eyes.

Some slide scans are pretty rough, so I try to fix them a little, or even a lot.
DeleteNice, I am glad I was correct. I had worried I saved my old photos incorrectly to acquire what I thought was unavoidable change.
DeleteAwwww...beautiful cats.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh didn't even know there was a cat show. I love this photo of you. Have a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteYou look a bit hippie just by looking at the photo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cats!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, what an adorable kitten! Adorable kittens can get you in trouble.
ReplyDeleteCool pic. I do believe the cat whisperer has a tad more face fur than the felines combined. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Now that's the 70s. You look like all my uncles from that time.
ReplyDeleteCat man Do! Cats make incredible pets, we always had one in our household even with two dogs.
ReplyDeleteLove that last picture!
ReplyDeleteI love that you two have always had cats. I was thinking of Lacey the other day for some unknown reason. I don't think I could ever get Lizzie to a cat show!
ReplyDeleteI had a Persian in the 70s and 80s. She was also small. You had great hair!
ReplyDeleteLoved the pictures! I've never had a cat because I'm allergic.
ReplyDeleteHaha. What a nice picture of you. Haven't styles changed so much. A cat competition, didn't even know they existed. Well done on second place . Salute . 🫡
ReplyDeleteYou look like a different man. Love your cat photos, but I am allergic to cats. Wheezing, watery eyes, coughing.
ReplyDeleteBaron was a very pretty little cat - gorgeous eyes. My cat-showing days, like my dog showing, were brief but interesting. We all know that the best pets are the ones we have and take home at the end of the (usually exhausting) day.
ReplyDeleteLook backs are always fun and thanks for sharing yours with the gorgeous felines. Baron was a very cute kitty.
ReplyDeleteRed kitties! They look like red pandas.
ReplyDeleteI've thought about looking back at the cats we've had. Thanks for sharing yours.
