We have gotten out for little walks but kept to the neighbourhood yesterday. The milder weather, as noted above, was pleasant enough, and we heard some birdsong, particularly a Mr Cardinal who was calling from a treetop up the street. We did the bridge trial walk on Sunday, but it was almost bitterly cold, partly because I underdressed. While photo ops seem few and far between in mid-March, I did take one of Sue shooting a boarded-up window, and I photographed the window too. Fortunately, or otherwise, my shooting did not break any glass.
A few days before that, we did a different sort of selfie in a downtown window. It's all reflection.
Since we are here, all together like this, I'll show you the old clocktower once again. It is a mono conversion of the colour version that I posted not too long ago.
I guess that's a wrap for today.

I love the abstract design and colors in the old wood in the window...plus the one of Sue which puts it into perspective. And speaking of which, curving that wall in the pano does make it very interesting! Keep on keeping on, post whatever you've got!
ReplyDeleteSometimes, distortions can result in a more interesting photo like the one you showed here.
ReplyDeleteThe wooden window looks like an art piece. The mono conversion of the clock tower suits March.
ReplyDeleteYou were really able to warp that building. Without your description, it seems like Sue is using a slingshot to put out that window. Maybe I need my morning tea first. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThese are terrific! And the boarded up window is a work of art on its own.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great ghost sign on the now warped wall.
ReplyDeleteI like the curving wall photo, and I don't see any snow?
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo! Sometimes when there isn't a lot to photograph, we get more creative. I see that in you! (not so much in me)
ReplyDeleteThat window has been boarded up for a long time1
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about less to write about in March and I think my next post will be another from the archives. I love the ones you shared, especially that boarded up window!
ReplyDeleteHah! Your photograph of that wall brought back a long, long ago memory! As a young young kid, perhaps 4-5 years old, was on my first “international” trip….. my parents took me across the bridge into Canada. I was somewhere in Ontario I presume…. maybe it was Sarnia or Windsor… not sure, but as we drove into more country areas, we drove by a barn with that same type of Bright Plug sign on it! And, I remember my Dad buying a pouch of some pipe tobacco of that ilk. It was something starting with a “B”…. Perhaps “Brightman’s” or “Brickman’s” or something like that. My parents, my sisters and I ended up out and about and ate a picnic lunch along some waterway park in the area. I remember my Mom being rather nervous as I was trying to get close to the water and it was rather faster moving, so I was continually being shushed away from the shore edge where I wanted to investigate things. All I remember about Dad’s pipe tobacco is that it smelled like usual…. and it was a comforting aroma.

I wonder if you were by the St Clair river near Sarnia where there is a pretty strong flow.
DeleteYou found some interesting things to photograph.
ReplyDeleteVery nice post and I love the photos today. Have a very nice day.
ReplyDeleteI love ❤️ this series, John. And I love the selfie as well.
ReplyDeleteSome months it is all you can do to endure them, let alone find something interesting about them.

You do have fun with your poses. I like the shot of Sue photographing the wall. Nice story shot.
ReplyDeleteThe weather is just plumb depressing. And if a cardinal has reached you, I bet they are in Perth as well and my friend will tell me about them too. Sigh.
I like the curve and that it’s not really there on the brick wall, that’s very cool.
ReplyDeleteI wish we could send you some warm. It was almost 90F here today. Blah, I’m not ready for hot!
That wall turned out very cool even if there isn't really a curve. I like your shot of Sue shooting the window so much too!
ReplyDeleteMarch is like that for me as well. It seems like there is not a lot to write about. It is not that we are not doing something, it is more that I just have the midwinter blahs and don't feel the motivation to write.
ReplyDeleteA gentle slice of late winter where even the smallest walks, a distant birdsong, or a stubborn mural become enough to hold the day together despite the cold.
ReplyDeleteThere's always something to talk about, and your post was, as ever, interesting.
ReplyDeleteI like every single one of these, AC. Great work! And by the way, I always find your posts interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a weird March.
ReplyDeleteYou do have fun in town.
