Having come across the poppies seen in yesterday's post, we thought to visit the museum garden to see and photograph the irises. We have seen nice showings around town and have known that there are irises to be found at the community garden. We were right but were surprised to see many spent blooms. Sue attributed at least some of it to the strong overnight winds and rains.
Of course, I am about to post photos of some irises that we did see.

Terrific photos of iris, which somehow are better for the raindrops! They are so delicate and intricate! You are able to get the whole flower in focus!
ReplyDeleteThe end of their season has come here. A few still showing their glory but the mighty display is past. I like these photos. The rain drops do add something.

ReplyDeleteWonderful! I'd like to get some different colors of Iris flowers. I only have the ones that are the old purple and yellow. Maybe I'll get some colorful bulbs for planting this fall.

ReplyDeleteIrises are lovely flowers! Purple and yellow are two of my favorite colors and I always gravitate to that combo if I see it is a garden, or anywhere for that matter. But I rarely do see it. Around here it is mostly red, red and more red! Thanks for sharing, and y'all have a great week!

ReplyDeleteYes, shot number one is a keeper, for sure. The petals in the yellow range did not work out as well. Lighting is my guess. My bestie's father, when she and I were kids, was a mad iris photographer, and we spent far too much playtime standing by with cardboard to 'deflect the light'.
