I had reason to delve into some old photos yesterday. This is from the day that Johnny first met Susie, or close enough although we sort of knew each other previously, but we travelled in different circles.
How odd that I am wearing sunglasses but that she is not although she does seem to be squinting. As you have witnessed, she usually wears sunglasses outside. Somewhere along our line of days, she became even more sensitive to light.
Update: Sue just informed me that when she was growing up, she always had to be sat with her back to the window during family dinners.
Fifty-nine years later, my sweet lady is yelling at me.
You see, it was time to dry out my hearing aids overnight, so I am having to recharge them this morning. Therefore, Sue must raise her voice considerably to be heard, and unless I am careful, I will raise my level too, just to hear myself.
In other news, we are expecting a big snowfall today. Danica has opted to skip classes by not driving into the city. Shauna still drove the other way to work, but that is more or less along less-travelled rural roads, and she is also a more experienced driver and in a better car. We were to get our RSV shots this morning, but Sue has just called to cancel. Meanwhile, JJ will enjoy his day off as school buses have been cancelled.
This is what it looks like now, but it has just begun: front and back.

We are getting major snow here with lots of wind. Stay home today.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting rain. Not snow. It's melting what snow we had on the ground.
ReplyDeleteYou two were just meant to be. I understand light sensitivity.
ReplyDeleteSo far, the snow has been no big deal. We are under warning until tomorrow, so we watch. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful photo of the two of you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo of you both! I'm glad Danica skipped driving, I'm sure that is a relief. A big snowfall, I can't wait to see the photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're staying safe and out of the snow. (mostly) That's an adorable photo of Johnny and Susie. :)
ReplyDeleteI love ❤️ your snow ❄️ pics. We are getting a blizzard here in Montreal today. Lots of snow. I love it.
ReplyDeleteWe have sunshine and a cutting wind, but the snow's long gone.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to see you both such a long time ago. I love the snow.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a good old snow storm. Stay in and watch and be safe.
ReplyDeleteI love the old picture!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely couple. Anyhow I had Uncle and Aunt Married 71 years.
ReplyDeleteYour young selves look cute!
ReplyDeleteGosh! Sue looks like a very young girl. I was told blue-eyed folks are more sensitive to thte sun, even just a hazy glaring day. I wear sunglasses a lot. I'm deciding about your side of the photo: your shirt tail is out and you're slouching. Maybe we just got used to seeing you on your blog in those spiffy plaid shirts and caps. Sorry, as an Eagle Scout mom, I notice such details. Be sure and reschedule your RSV shots so we can keep teasing you. Besides, I'm deciding if I want to move to Canada, or head straight to Greenland with its new additional international protection forces. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteThat first picture, what a sweet memory. You both look so young!
ReplyDeleteWe ended up with a couple inches of snow, and now it is very cold, about 18°f.
I like the last photo of the tree.
We have a fine pile out here - lots of wind overnight and early this morning and it is drifted a lot. I had to dig out the front porch steps so that JG could find them. I hope the road to and from Perth was looked after. We got plowed this morning, both ways. Can you believe that? Wow.
ReplyDeleteLove the young AC and Cuppa. Good looking pair. And it has lasted.
One, I love the photos of you guys! Wonderful! I have a love/hate relationship with sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteI hope the winter weather doesn't cause you guys or your family issues. Bad weather pretty much sucks.
I loved seeing the youthful photos! And be careful out there -- you get so much more snow than we do. I'm glad I can mostly hibernate when that comes along.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great photo of you two. I sometimes have to turn off the bright light in our family room and always wear sunglasses. I think back to the days when I was growing up when we used to sit in the dark to save on the electric bill. My father would often say we would think differently when we had to pay for the electric ourselves. I have never thought that maybe that's one cause for my sensitivity to bright light.
ReplyDeleteJoe takes his hearing aids out to listen/watch Youtube vids. Then he takes off his head phones and yells at me! I tell him not to yell. So, I hear you! 😏 He doesn't wear them shopping as they amplify all the sounds and he can't hear specific sounds, like the cashiers.
ReplyDeleteMy hearing loss is too great to manage without them.
