These photos cost me blood, for the mosquitoes were ferocious, and I was soon itching and scratching in many locations on my body.
It seemed right to get some photos of the light that is trying so hard to shine, but that is me anthropomorphizing an inanimate object. I have also tended to feel the same way about the last few vehicles that have lived fairly long lives, and I kept my Christmas poinsettia in the window until just a few days ago because it was trying so hard.
Sentimental and silly.
No, normal and human. It's a pretty light and deserves its place in your collection.

ReplyDeleteIs your light getting enough sunshine to recharge properly? They are very nice lights by the way. I think our generation is the last to hold on to things that still hold a sprig of life. I too have plants that some think need to be binned, and we like old cars, haha.

ReplyDeleteI too tend to anthropomize inanimate things. Several vehicles had names, most memorable are Toot, Michael J. Truck, and Burt (for Big Ugly Red Truck).
I also talk to plants.
I have one that never turns off, they have a mind of their own!
ReplyDeleteI like solar lights. I got a little lantern like the one you were given and I really like it, swinging in the tree and glowing nearly all night. I love using the sun to power it.
ReplyDeleteWe have a solar frog sitting in the wind sill herb garden. Patrick couldn't resist it as a recent online purchase. It joins a few other frogs with no solar lights.
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing. That light is beautiful and I love the story. I actually get mad if my car misbehaves because "I've been treating you so well and taking good care of you and THIS is how you repay me!"

ReplyDeleteNo. No. Not sentimental and silly. Anthropomorphizing things is one of the ways to make life worth living. We are primed, as primates, to see faces in things. I have a maple tree that watches my diet through the kitchen window. Brave little light and I am glad it is immortalized, even at the cost of your blood. (JG got chomped by a deer fly today and it bled under the skin. ... I hope I am not arrested for spouse abuse.

ReplyDeleteAnthropomorphizing is something I do often. I literally have trees that I touch and say hello to along with favorite rocks and of course...Teddy Bears.
