I wanted to keep checking on the poppies, so we returned to the scene from just 4 days previously. Life moves apace, and the first poppies from that walk were at the floppy and fading stage. I did find a few fresh blooms at another house on the same block. I keep experimenting with soft backgrounds in portrait mode.

Once again, the phone camera did the trick. I would not have been able to shoot photos like these, with the soft background, with a normal camera unless I knew ahead of time what specific lens I would need, assuming of course, that I had such an expensive lens in my possession.
The color red in that first photo just pops with the soft background and the iPhone’s portrait mode is indeed impressive and far less bulky than a macro lens and camera.
ReplyDeleteOh what an excellent photo of the poppy! It's being saved (with Anvilcloud attribution) for a future post. I miss that my iPhone was removed from having portrait and panorama functions from my camera. Why on earth would they remove them when updating, anyway!

DeleteI think poppy buds are ALMOST as pretty as the poppy, just subdued. Love the allium image!
ReplyDeleteI deliberately pointed up to get the colour and light from the tree behind. I think that made the difference.

ReplyDeleteI have poppies that came up and are doing their own thing in the wildflower mess of a garden. The Sweet William flowers have taken over most of it, but does look so beautiful...just like your shots!
